What are your opinions of the new borderlands map?
I’m a little indifferent.
A few things that bug me
- Brown. Ugly brown. It looks like the majority of the map is going to be brown which dulls the mind after awhile. I much prefer green. Toss a desert area here and there sure, but not the majority.
- Complexity of map design. The acronym K.I.S.S. comes to mind. Sure it’s going to be a great change of pace having all those caves and different levels to explore. What about lower population servers? What about off peak hours? Even now on a WvW map that is mostly flat it’s hard to run into enemy groups off peak hours.
- It looks like there are a lot of gimmicky quirk type mechanics being used with various jumps and what not. Again, K.I.S.S. most of the players I play with simply want to ball up and skirmish it out with other death balls. With all the new elements in the new map it will make the map far less efficient for zerg battles as say, a green field.
I don’t know, I don’t want to be a negative Nancey or a Debbie downer. Just my initial thoughts after watching the video.
