Guild Wars 2

I logged in this morning to find a new character slot. Does anyone know why? Obviously, I haven’t bought one recently, and I only pre-ordered the standard HoT version.

Should I go ahead and make a warrior? Or will this go away? I was saving my last Character slot for a Revenant, but now this extra one will allow to finally have a warrior as well!

It is a complementary slot for pre-purchasing HoT. This is given to everyone who pays for the game before it is released.

“If you registered your core Guild Wars 2 game before January 23, 2015 and register a pre-purchase serial code for Heart of Thorns any time before the expansion is released, you’ll receive a free character slot! Once you apply a pre-purchase serial code, you’ll be eligible for the slot regardless of where you bought the core game.”

Awesome! Thanks! I wasn’t aware they were doing this, and though that was the main incentive to buy the $75 version of the game that comes with a character slot.

Well, if you upgrade to the $75 version (which I believe you can do with gems now that you paid for the base version) you’ll get another character slot. They added the slot for veterans who prepurchase after a huge kerfluffle in the forums and elsewhere about how vets were “cheated” by the base package.
