Should we been expecting a new class (which is an update as huge as a permanent content like Crystal Desert map) on those 2-2 weeks updates?

Maybe on a year of guild wars 2 release commemoration?

Has any plans or team working on it right now?

If so, I hope it is a heavy class.

They said, but did not outright confirm it, that a new class/race COULD slip through into a living story update.

It would not surprise me in the least of a new race/class is something the team in charge of larger content is working on.

Not to be a negative nancy, but I’d rather not have them add a new profession to the game this early when they have yet to balance the current 8 (and I mean as much as possible, since a perfect balance is near impossible). A new playable race would be refreshing.

Tengu were planned to be a race on release if I recall correctly, but I believe the official story was they ran into some major technical issues with them and had to hold it back. It’s not hard to believe either really, of all the potential races they do have the most known/fleshed out lore. Four House for your character’s biography for example.

Exactly. I would rather wait until the current professions are balanced before adding more professions or even more skills to the game.

The OP used the word “class”. He did give away his intentions with the word “heavy” later on though.

As others said, I don’t see them releasing a new profession because even the current ones have plenty of bugs and balancing issues. A new race, on the other hand? I dunno, somehow I don’t like it when companies do that. Majority of the time they come as major asspulls. And considering that the Tengu are sealed away for a reason, I doubt they’re just gonna go “Oh look, a dragon! We should fight that kitten!”. They are ignoring Zhaitan, which brought together all the other races, after all.

Whether that refers to professions or races isn’t clear from his post.

Fancy seeing people assuming one way or the other, though. Keep it up.

Actually I brought up both because for most, a new race or class seem to be equally desired.

Personally I would prefer to see the existing classes expanded before seeing a new class. Balance issues, new weapon sets, utilities, maybe even a new trait line. Although sure, a new class would be cool as well.

Yeah, I think in interviews they stated they would add weapons to existing classes (or alternate weapon skills to existing weapons) before they added new classes. Think of rangers with a hammer etc. Before they do any of that they need to balance the current classes.

As far as a new race goes, until the Living Story moves in that direction, even that seems unlikely any time soon. The current Living Story is all over the place (the original characters were left behind in the dust and the new characters don’t seem to be doing anything important). The Zephyr Sanctum plot for Keil seems like a forced attempt to wedge her into a content update.

If you talk to one of the tengu blacksmiths in the Epilogue of your personal story, he says something about telling his brothers and possibly inspiring them to reach out and do their part or something like that. Let me look it up.

Not only that, but one of the Tengu guarding the wall says they are deciding who they can trust, if the Pact uniting many races and achieving victory over Zhaitan is not enough to make the Tengu think twice I don’t know what will.

Edit: Can’t seem to find the exact dialogue, but the Tengu I am talking about is Izu Steelshrike

I see no problems with PvE balancement, I’d like to see more combat mechanic instead of only dodge.
For exemple, warrios/guardians could use a “block” spending some stamina to block incoming attacks instead of evading them.
Mages could use a little “blink” aswell, only for a better magic design.

PvP has been forgotten for a long time, only now they are giving it some importance, with time it may be better and balanced.

WvW I really don’t care.

Surprised, I didn’t think we would see a new class, until there was an Official Expansion pack.

Do you think we will see an Expansion pack early next year?

I don’t understand why people want new classes already. It’s still not an year since release..I like new races and classes don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think they should focus on that just yet.
