New Control Skills (DPS/Supp/Cont)

I got to thinking a moment ago that what the Control aspect of this game lacks is a variety of ways to control team fights.

We have so far:

Blocks, Fear, Walls, Reflects, Condi re-directs, Knockbacks, Knockdown, Interrupts, and Immobilize.

The problem with these is that they are all (aside from Reflect/Condi re-direct) the same type of control. Movement Control/Skill Control that allow you to still take damage.

What could be refreshing and intersting in WvW Zerg fights are a different type of control:

Displacement Control

To describe Displacement Control think of:

Blink, Shadowstep, Portal, Rocket Boots.

Now imagine the inverse but being able to do it to large groups of players with new skills? I am not talking about movement control, or skill control. I am talking about being able to move enemy players the 1200+ range that some skills can move us already.

Not immobilize and then DPS them to death. But completely displace them from combat entirely.

Situation: 20-30 man Zerg roaming the map, all you have is small havoc groups.

You have 5 players in your party, you charge the enemy Zerg, Stealth with a Thief or Veil/Mass Invis with a Mesmer.

Run into the Zerg, grab 2-3 players, push them 1200/1500 (yes I said 1500) range away from the Zerg. Kill 2 or all 3 and then run from the Zerg. Rinse, repeat.

Small, tactical organized strikes that do not force you to confront the entire Zerg 5 v 30. But allow you to split the Zerg up and needle it away right out from under their feet.

Make a Zerg think twice about taking something. When you’ve got a small force systematically destroying their Zerg (over time) without having to 5 v 30 that Zerg to no effort.

Imagine Chain Displacing several players? It may sound awfully annoying, but it does sound awfully fun as well.

If you’ve got a creative idea for new types of Control please add it to this topic. Support so far makes sense, DPS makes sense but Control could be a lot better in very interesting ways.

(Imagine if Mesmer GS 5 wasn’t a silly 450 Range and it was 1200 Range. And you didn’t avoid it by dodging or Stability? Now THAT would be control.)

Give the skill ultra long CDs if you want. They don’t need to be used continuously, but just to great effect.
