So a while back they mentioned revamping the dungeons with the living story, or even removing some and giving us new ones. However the game has been out a year, I know they did not say they were going to do it a year ago, yet the newest dungeon we have had was Fractals. Now it has been said we shall be getting some new fractals, but really I would hope the dungeon revamp or creation would come first.
So has any heard anything new about dungeons? New or revamp?
The living story is giving us lots of content, but I would really like to see a new dungeon. The Flame and Frost dungeon was great, but temporary so not counted, and it is meant to be coming back in fractal form. However how about a new dungeon with explorable paths or adding new paths to the existing dungeon?
I did not count the new rewards system as revamping, because it needs work. what I get at the end is great, but I would like to see new content first.

Dungeon revamp could mean a lot of things and I do think the reward system is a part of that.
But rewards aside, these dungeons need boss-mechanic overhauls. Some are solid dungeons, like all three paths in CoE. But CoF P1 is crap. CoF P2 is OK, but mag still gets lost in pathing when hes trying to find magnacite or whatever. And other dungeons are just huge hitpoint pools, one shot mechanics, or add fests.
But Id agree, wheres the dungeon revamp?
Pretty sure the recent change to the gold and token output at the end of the dungeon was what they meant by “revamp.”
Take a look at the dungeon forums and how often anyone from ANet posts in there (Hint: it’s been MONTHS), and you’ll have an idea of what kind of priority their permanent content is right now.
Do we really need more dungeons? We have quite a good selection.

what for? to skip/zerk them out? let them fix the ones we have to actually FEEL like a dungeon.
I’ve heard from a source that they were redoing them in order. Hence why AC was first and CM is supposedly next. However, the dungeon team has been reassigned and I don’t know if they are back to working on it. Especially with all of the blowback and negative feedback from when they “revamped” AC and it’s still riddled with bugs and issues that even hinder completion of some paths.
Imo, they could fix some of the dungeons/paths/bosses before they try adding in any new ones. Besides Arah, there’s no need for the rest of the dungeons to have such varied durations to complete them when they all reward the same.
I think they have said they want to revamp the dungeons they have now rather than add new ones..

They adjusted all rewards in relation to the length and difficulty of the paths now, right? That’s why CoF p1 now gives 50 coppers.
I did not know about the reassigning of the dungeon team, that might explain why we have not see much int he way of improvements. Why the Reward system they added, seems like it took a very short time to implement. And why they have only just started hinting at adding new fractals.
Personally if Fractals are the way they want to do dungeons in the future I would say we need more. Maybe even more on a regular basis. Such as Themed ones where we use the Mists to interact with the Mad King for Halloween, instead of him destroying the place? They could show us how he got killed in the first place or something.
I wonder if the Playground from Scarlet is going to become a fractal? They said something about a Aetherblade fractal a while back I think.
I want an all underwater dungeon, there are not enough underwater scenarios imo & I really enjoy fighting underwater on all classes

I think underwater combat need a revamp before I enjoy it. Things like more weapon choice and changing the utility skills so we get them all, even if they have to change them. It is a bad idea to just lock out skills and force us to use one weapon.
I think the revamp for underwater combat should be to just increase the damage of underwater weapons. The worst part of going underwater in HotW is that, despite having exotic underwater weapons my damage suddenly drops.
Or reduce the health.

Actually, outside of Arah p4 and SE p2, every dungeon path takes anywhere from 6 to 15 minutes. Most of the dungeon paths lie around 10-13mins.
The big problem is that some paths take more skill and coordination to get those times than others.
I can think of many paths that take longer then 10 to 15 minutes.
Arah path 1 and 2.
SE path 2 (as you said)
COF path 3 (least 20 to 30 minutes)
HOTW Path 2 and 3. Both long, 3 is the longest.
That is about all I can think of now, but it all depends on your group. For example in my Guild we just ask and get whoever. Which means the groups can be great or bad, and that means it could take a lot longer. That is what my problem is, as it seems like the rewards are based on a 4 warrior 1 mesmer party group.
Again rewards not counting, the dungeons just need to be changed so that just DPS can not speed run you through them. Adding mechanics that prohibit skipping or reward those who do not would be nice. A kill counter or timer with a ratio for bosses killed. Getting rid of defiance so DPS does not always win.

And that’s if you have a team that can skip (not a good idea when you have a new person who doesn’t understand the dungeon yet, i.e.). Not to mention that a lot of skipping was nerfed by the last dungeon patch, where events won’t take place until you’ve dealt with the last one.
Anet needs to make their current dungeons worth doing, before they add new dungeons.
nothing new or exciting is coming to gw2, this is the reason all none casuals still playing the game are kitten ed and others waiting for a new game to move on to, because this one has nothing for you to do.

Only done each of those once for obvious reasons (on the account of both of them being horrible), but I’m pretty sure they can at least be done in <20. I’m not planning on testing it, since they’re so bad, but it should be possible.

That’s not entirely true. Even if you’re running faceroll warrs there’s several dungeon paths that are just unnecessarily long(much longer than 6 mins, especially with a non warr pug). Sometimes the mechanics even slow you down on purpose(AC P2 for example). But just to mention a few, Hotw P2/3, some of the TA paths(can never get them straight), 2 of the CM paths(1 and 2?), and CoE(2 or 3, don’t remember). I don’t make a habit to run the longer paths anyways now since the token rewards are account bound instead of character bound.

Well they feel like dungeons when you’re not in zerk gear, you have to use a lot more skill to win in non-optimal build/gear/skill. Try doing it in a rookie group.
Honestly they should just fix the whole warrior/zerk/defiant/red circle/whatever problem they’re having with dungeons.
I still do not understand at all how warriors do exponentially higher damage than any other class in PvE. I can’t get any of my characters near that kind of dmg in zerk gear.

I do, lots of rookies skiping random champions in dungeons, or my favorite: “Stack here to bug the boss” lol rookies…. they make my day, everyday.

As for dungeons, the only thing that makes me want to do them again and again now is new classes. By that I mean playing them as a different class, such as a Necro compared to a Guardian. It just gives me a different perspective. However when I run out of classes or get bored then I guess unless they revamp them or give us knew ones ill stop. Which is sad as I love the combat in this game, even if I think bosses and other things need a rethink.
On Warriors doing the most damage, yes. It is bad that one class can out class the rest in DPS and that DPS is the best way to play. Personally I have some DPS builds but mostly I go for a balanced build as you do not normally get all warriors.
