New Expansion New Profession?
We already have three professions in each of the three disciplines (heavy, medium and light armors) so I doubt we will see a new profession. I would LOVE Tengu playability since their lore is already well established, their popularity is high, and they could just start off as level 80 so half the problems that people mention as issues with making a new race would be bypassed completely!
I would love a new race or profession, but I’m pretty sure we aren’t going to see either. I do hope they will give us a new race someday though.
There will likely never be another new profession. Elite specs are meant to fill that role and when they added the revenant, it was to fill out the 3 weights.
A new race can be very expensive and will forever increase costs due to the voices and multiple languages. The current episode hints at the new risen being not so dumb. They would be one of the cheapest to implement, since they’re just reskinned humans and the voice could be morphed.

They sort of hamstrung themselves with the way the original races were implemented, but that doesn’t mean that can’t work out a different way to do it.
The easiest solution is to add a new PS (a simpler one than the original) detailing a new region (such as Elona this time). They can then add a new race or two in addition to a different version of an existing race (i.e. Elonan human) that will play through that PS.
i want a grawl as race. they walk funny :p
There wont be a new race, there wont be a new class. Thats set.
But we will have new specialisations.
No new professions.
3 Heavy Armour.
3 Medium Armour.
3 Light Armour.
They said they were satisfied and had all their bases covered now.
What you WILL see however is more and more elite specs. Because that was their answer vs continually adding new classes. If they tried to do both they would eventually have a massive pool to balance and each new class would need retroactive, add x elite specs into mix.
Elite specs yes, Classes no. Sorry mate.
Doubtful. I don’t see anything that a new class could bring which couldn’t be covered by one or more elite specializations.
I hope not – just so they could put more effort into new zones instead of having to edit the heck out of the areas we’ve already been to support new professions.
No. We get Elites.
Won’t even get Tengu. #sad

I just hope we get -two- elites per profession instead of just one. I know we won’t, but it would make my day to hear we would. That was one of the few real HoT disappointments for me after the initial announcement of elites: It originally sounded as if they could add them in over time via interim patches, and then in an AMA they said no, they only come with expansions.
One new one every two years? Probably that’s in line with how other games release new ways of playing classes, but it still saddened me to realize it was the case here.
ether a new prof or a new weapon set (truly new), at least i hope….
I also think ANet will not add either a new profession or race, not just now, but going forward. I don’t care, either, as long as any Elite Specs offer new ways to play. As to the OP’s desire for Dervish, I’d be fine with a scythe weapon being added and made part of an Elite Spec that offered a similar “feel” to the Dervish Class from Nightfall.

This.^
I don’t think that we will get a new profession or race. I too hope that the new elites will give classes a new way of playing rather than just recycled utilities from other classes.
As far as Dervish goes, I was really hoping one of the elites would allow for a new Dervish. I don’t think that is happening, however. With the return of at least one God, you would think that Dervishes would be in the cards. Sadly, I don’t think it is.
I really hope not
It’s been stated over and over again that we are NOT getting any new professions AND neither a new race. Let that thought die already. Next topic…
Mesmer Elite Spec using Hammer = Dervish

Reaper Shroud is the closest we’ll get to Dervish class.
I would like to see them take a page from the GW1 game version and allow duel classes. Mesmer/Ranger, Guardian/Necro etc….

That is, theoretically, part of what Elite Specs are supposed to replicate, under more controlled circumstances. The elite gives the profession an additional mechanic and a skill type they couldn’t use before. (Though Rage is just Physical with more power attached. C’mon, ANet…)

I don’t think we’ll see a new profession, but we might get a new race, but I’m fine with the race choices as they stand.

Ugh, I hope not. I never liked the idea of dual classes as I, personally, prefer to have a clear understanding of my character’s identity and role along with everyone elses’. Just my two coppers.
I really hope that we do not get a new profession. I would much rather see those dev resources invested in existing professions.
+1 for Dervish from me
Lets see what they gonna bring us
I don’t think they are going to create new profession to this game anymore but if they do, you may say I am a weak kitten I wish to have monk or paladin that actually can heal like the old Guild Wars.
It would be nice if they give us some reason to buy a character slot, but I’m not holding my breath.
there isn’t really a need for new individual classes, they pretty much lay down the core rpg/D&D classes warriors/archers/mage etc. They can easily just add more with specializations that we have to decide which you want to be, since pretty sure we can only be 1 of them at a time.
Firstly, I hope they give us new weapons like spear, dual handed axe and scythe.
If they make new specialization with not dual handed weapon, I really wish they would give two one handed weapons for main and off-hand so no one feels bad.
And such would be my fantasies for new specs:
Ranger – Dervish with scythe (A MUST!)
Elementalist – dijin-like Battlemage with Greatsword
Necromancer – Golemancer with mace + shield, making mud / sand / water golems to fight for him
Guardian – Something Paragon like, lets name it Pagaron or Ragapon, with dual handed spear
Warrior – Butcher with dual handed axe.
Mesmer – Illusionist with harp (kidding, let it be focus in each hand).
Engineer – Canoneer with heavy spear
Thief – something with elemental abilities would be cool. Lets give him greatsword. Or longbow with elemental projectiles.
Revenant – Margonitant with scepter and focus.
It’s been stated over and over again that we are NOT getting any new professions AND neither a new race. Let that thought die already. Next topic…
Another topic like when they stated over and over that there wont be any mounts
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

Lol yeah but no more of a nightmare than what we currently have where you need to be a math major to understand what everything does.
I had a Rit/Monk build that still solo’s the underworld……. I guess I will go back into GW1 and run through again lol….

Theoretically that may have been the plan, but it hasn’t really translated to the current builds in my opinion.
Wouldn’t it be fun to have a Mesmer/Elementalist mix? Illusions plus flame!!!

Hell yeah! Elonans of Istani descent are more due than Tengu or any other monster race remade as friendly.

If you go into character creation, you can make a character that looks elonian!
if they did release new profs I would want there to be 3, 1 for each armor class.
