Guild Wars 2

Spoiler Alert its in the photo. You can see the Purple crystals and desert like theme at the bottom its a long awaited release of Guildwars 2.

With that being said new hopes and wants for a new Race may be released.

There has been talk of a new race being implemented into the Guildwars 2.

- THE TENGU!

I have been hearing nothing but a bunch of rumors with the Crystal Desert the Tengu is going to be introduced as a playable race. With that being said this is pro-dominantly going to be a race played by females given the fact Females are larger than the Tengu Males.

Quick Note : In Japanese folklore, Tengu are a class of supernatural creatures.

Your thoughts?

If you’ve played through the story, you’d know what of your post is definitely right and what is wrong / doubtful.

The only ‘talk’ I’ve heard/read is from players; nothing official from the Devs about Tengu being a new playable race.

There wasn’t even anything about Tengu in the ‘leaks’.

I recall no connection between tengu and crystal desert ever being made

Last time I was in the crystal desert, no Tengu were there. Unless I’ve missed something or they’ve settled there in the meantime, I see no connection between the next expansion and the Tengu.

I reckon the Tengu next to LA will only open their gates if they face extinction and see no other way out. And currently I see no immediate threat for them.

Regarding the Tengu, there is no dev talk or leaks. And what talk there is, is half why implementing Tengu would be a bad idea

Part of me admires the tenacity of these hardheaded tenguists, the other part of me wants them in a nice, extra crispy recipe.

Playable Tengu? No, the rumor I heard was playable Dolyaks! They need no starting area, cuz they are everywhere!

To be fair, WvW might get more interesting if dolyaks suddenly had enough, stood up on two legs, and started swinging death-hammers. :P

didn’t Anet gave up on adding new playable races due to the amount of work needed to port all armor.

As much as I want playable Tengu, im pretty sure not gonna happen at least this expansion. such thing would have been already sightly leaked, and we would had tengus somewhere in the LS3.

That being said, Tengu have the adventage over other races like quaggans, skritts, Hyleks and centaurs that their body builds might work decently with charr armors (since they were originaly going to be a playable race and all) so besides helms and feet, some of the adaptation work would be done already.

The second argument of story coherency IMO isnt that strong cause i feel the story is already all over teh place doing whatevers.. in fact when i played teh personal story, zaithan battle and the restoration of orr wer already arranged in a different way that made some dialogs have 0 sense… dunno if this have already been corrected though. and while I LOVE the lore of Tyria, the pact commander storyline have me bored beyond heavens.

That being said, i would love to see a Tengu communnity somewhere on the desert, akin to the Tengus in maguuma, maybe you can theme this up like osiris and egypts… or something XD…

and i really hope that if they decide to never let tengus be playable, at leasssst they could open friggin dominion of winds and stop being a huge spot of nothingness in the middle of tyria.
