New Farm: Veteran Karkas
Karkas are also good for vials of powerful blood.
I might be out of the loop but what it has to do with ascended armor?

karka shell is one of the easier recipies for exotic grade. So easier to use this to level the craft. Just a question of getting the shell.
You can also sell for gold to use to buy your crafting components. You make 6 gold an hour easily just off karka shells alone. Factor in the bloods (powerful blood sells for nearly 40 silver now) and other drops and it’ll put you up to 8 gold per hour.
Southsun going to actually have players in it?
What world am I in?
100% droprate of karka shells from veteran karka is intended. They announced that a while ago during the lost shores event I think.

This is not true as you need 30 karka shells for one inscription instead of only 5 other t6 mats, making Apothecary the most expensive inscription to craft.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.

As has been pointed out it is easy to know where and how much you will get when you farm it. Plus the queen event gives a lot if you do it. Not the toughest ingredient to get unless you wait beside the tp.
If people start zerging southsun. The prices of Karka shell is going to drop and then it won’t be best gold per hour any more.
What server is that? In SBI, Southsun Cove is a Ghost Town.
Actually Southsun is a great place for small groups to farm, and larger groups to farm the queen, it is a fun frustrating place to go

It’s only frustrating if you don’t have a reflect skill for the littler buggers. The bigger ones just take a bit of persistence.
Not new, but good money. SoR usually has a commander running around there if people are interested.

You farm them on the whole SW side of the map. You kill them up to the hive and then work your way east towards the camp that is always contested with the 30+ crazed karka (by where the wueen spawns). You clear the camp for more blood/shells. You can get about 80+ karka shells an hour.
I would suggest teaming up with people as getting credit could be difficult. Due to how quickly the karka veterans die, you may miss out. I’ve missed out on claims a couple of times due to the invulnerability phases they constantly go in when changing form.

Yes and no. With the update on Tuesday, there’s a a chance that prices could remain the same or go higher. You need 30 to make an insignia so if they were cheap at the update, this would very quickly change. This would not happen if there wasn’t the upcoming update. So if you see prices falling, save them until Tuesday.
need to thank you Ayrilana, had 10g worth sitting in my overflow bank that you reminded me of.

You can dodge/strafe/interrupt them too.
The more annoying thing is the constant weakness.
Clearing the center camp after killing the queen is a decent amount of extra padding for your loot drops. It has a high density of mobs so you don’t have to dedicate too much time for a couple of extra shells. Just make sure to pull a few at a time and not charge the entire group at once unless you also have a big blob of people with you of course.
Edit: Unlike the other world boss chests the one from the queen is not once per day (the bonus is still once per day). https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-June-11th-2013/2192806

That’s right. Dunno what’s up with PUGs avoiding the place, but when my guild and our allies come out to do this, we win big.
Great place to make money. Get people settler gear that wanted it. With ascended gear coming out, I imagine maybe that’ll bring people back.

Well with random people it is very easy for someone to end up pulling everything and that can get very annoying and deadly with the veterans crazed karkas knocking everyone down. With a guild group I would expect a bit more coordination.
Sometimes you just don’t want to see other people around.

Aye, sometimes. Other times, it’s nice to have company.
I don’t necessarily care that they might be a bit daft concerning mobs, unless in addition to that they’re unpleasant people.
I’ll help someone up many times if it’s an honest effort or a mistake. Not so much if they simply refuse to listen. You can generally tell.
I think it’s an old known thing, but problem is, SSC is not as easily reached unlike other “neighboring” zones. Because SSC can only be reached via teleporting (or portaling via L.A.), not many players stumble over there.
So people who like to farm, they can group up and just start the run there. But otherwise, it won’t really pick up unless a Living Story happen to start over there. Remember the Settler buff back then?

True. But if the plan is to get the shells to craft, then the price comes down because of farmers, you can buy them instead.

Let me be the first to say, Anet please nerf this farming spot. People should not be allowed to mindlessly farm veterans because I like to worry too much about how other people play the game. Additionally I imagine that map chat will suffer from people arguing when a veteran is taken out of order. People might occasionally say something not so nice to each other. Heck! Some people might even have to be blocked by other players. Imagine the horror of it! This will give a horrible impression on any newer player that might venture there and see such a monstrosity going on. If not nerfed immediately, this farming area is certain to be the downfall of GW2.
It seems that veteran karkas have a 100% drop rate for a karka shell. Each shell sells for a little over 8 silver. A zerg of people can down a veteran karka in about 15-20 seconds. This currently yields more gold per hour than the FGS champ farm.
I just thought I would let those who did not know about it as this is the last weekend to farm before ascended armor comes out. Good luck!
Lol, a Zerg. South sun is usually deserted. You can solo one fairly easily with the right build.

Yes but it won’t be as fast which would greatly reduce efficiency.

ummm… okay… I just mailed you 50 black lion chests since you asked and all I guess.

So just wondering, who do you think is at fault? The ones who kill things out of order or the ones who respond in a nasty way to it?

The ones who believe they can find order in the karkas! :P
