I think its about time ArenaNet gets a new forum site.

This one sucks.

It’s difficult to find and track threads.

Most threads get derailed by trolls or toxic comments.

Can they just give us a generic forums that you get on nearly any other game site or anything online?

Colin Johanson commented on the forums way back about not wanting to devote staffers/resources to the forums when they could be invested into more critical areas in the game.

I say, forums are the platform for feedback, and if the forums are terrible, then ArenaNet considers player feedback the same. To ArenaNet, player feedback seems to not be worth investing in remodeling.

The forums are a place for the community to come together and chat, ask questions and provide feedback. Give the community some control over their conversations/threads.

I want to be able to “hide” comments that derail from my threads. And close my own threads down when I’m done talking about it or if someone points out an old thread that addresses my concerns/topic.

I hate seeing my threads being ‘merged’ with other threads that are on the same topic but have different agendas altogether. I hate seeing them merged with topics 2-5 months old and being lost with thousands of other topics.

If I want to start a brand new discussion on an old topic, then let me please.

Would be nice, but would not work because of a people in here. Also that is someones disagree with a TOPIC and its detailed text and does do wrote its opinion based on his/her details. A people would gladly ’’hide’’ those things because they are expecting everyone be a same mind as OP´s themselves. So in my mind TOPIC should be only made if OP itself is ready to see a things from a many views and not just his when someones disagree with him/her. Something like that.

Agree with the concept that a new forum is desperately required. I don’t agree with most of your reasons.
I love the merging aspect specifically when it deals with SAB and Mounts. There is only one agenda no matter how disguised as a new point of view. Closing your own threads, no big deal or required for a good forum, just ask a mod. Hiding others comments, again not needed. If you can’t deal with comments that come your way, then don’t post, specially if you know you are going to get responses that you don’t care for. Toxic or trolling, again ask a mod to make a decision that is in the communities best interests. That being said perhaps don’t make a topics that you are aware will result in a clash. The general tone of the suggestion appears to be more about ‘me’ than enhancing and benefiting the community as a whole with an up to date forum engine.

Encourage and politely demand that Anet spends the money to get new forums.
Search—now that is what really needs to be addressed and you ignore it.
Something the devs could use(be required to use) to communicate efficiently instead of using all the various unofficial alternatives. (again ignored).
