I call it the Fanatic
Heavy Armor class with a mechanic akin to elementalist attunements
Medium sized health pool
Main hand weapons:
Sword
Axe
Hammer
Greatsword
Torch
Staff
Offhand Weapons:
Dagger
Shield
Pistol
Focus
Possibly new weapon sets like (Polearms and battleaxes [wink wink])
(btw, bcuz of the alignments, there is no weapon switching)

NEW MECHANIC***
This class has two “alignments”, light and dark, one is a dedicated healer/ minor buffing and crit damage, the other is CC and a bit of stealth and condition dmg.
The class has a 5 minute timer, counting down every 5 minutes to 0:00, and when it hits 0 the character switches alignments. Also, in case you felt like switching yourself before the timer hits zero, the F1 skill, named Ascension/Descent, switches you willingly and has a 30s cooldown, but has 2 charges, meaning it can only be used twice every 5 minutes (the charges being replaced at the end of every countdown).
The F2 skill is call Bestow/Corrupt, bestowing a certain number of boons to 5 allies around you from a list of boons at random, and corrupting the enemies in the same area with a list of conditions to 5 enemies from a certain list of conditions, also with a 30s cooldown.

Skills and traits***
I’ve only been working on this in my spare time so i’ve actually only created about 3 skills, 1 heal and 2 elites (one of the elites used to be a heal as well, but a few guildies pointed out that it didn’t work exactly the way a heal was supposed to, so i changed it up a bit and made it an elite skill.

Heal Skill: Citadel’s Protection/ Retributive Renewal
1. Mid Level Heal + Might & Fury (4s)
2. Mid Level Heal + 30% Condi dmg (4s) + Stealth (2s)

Elite Skills
Angelic Fury/Demonic Possession
1. Allies in AOE area (ground targeted) will gain “Angelic Fury” buff, showing glowing ethereal wings on the back of the character, providing Protection, Regeneration, Might, Fury, and Quickness for 10s.
2. Enemies in AOE area (ground targeted) will gain a condition called “Demonic Possession”, making their movement controls and skills reversed (WASD is reversed, forward is back, back is forward, left and right ect., and movement skills like Whirling Attack on Warrior Greatsword, will send you in the exact opposite direction) and your attacks have a 50% chance to deal 100% weapon and skill damage to allies instead of enemies for 10s.

Martyrdom/Sacrificial Punishment
1. 3/4s cast time, you begin taking all damage that is hitting an AOE area around your character while allies in that area are invulnerable, and when your health hits 0% and you go down, allies in the AOE area get burst healed of 150% of the damage you took.
2. All damage done to you and allies in your immediate AOE area is dealt 1/1 to any enemies in an AOE area of ground targeting you place down.

Side note: definitely not completed, but constructive criticism and ideas and thoughts would be awesome, this is a guild project for us and i have been getting help from them but ideas always help, so tell me what you think ^.^

I like the attunement idea since both light and medium armor have something similar to that and they cant switch weapons.

I don’t know about the skills and stuff but Anet needs to make an attunement based heavy class with no weapon switching.

That class sounds like its pure support along the lines you would find with a trinity class system. I also don’t see why this would be a heavy class as the heavy classes in most games tend to be melee, offensive.

I can go into more detail and flesh out my criticism if you’d like but I didn’t want to come off as being too critical. Maybe if it were a light armor class with a little more offensive capability, then I could see it feasible.

Elite Skills

Dedicated healer, buffing and crit damage and another stance with CC, stealth and condition damage?

Are you for real?

Angelic Fury/Demonic Possession
1. Allies in AOE area (ground targeted) will gain “Angelic Fury” buff, showing glowing ethereal wings on the back of the character, providing Protection, Regeneration, Might, Fury, and Quickness for 10s.

0_0 I’m not even gonna say anything. If you don’t see how horribly overpowered that is there is no helping you.

This is 1) Overpowered, 2) Probably a mess to code, 3) More like a joke skill for hack n’slash games than a skill for a mmorpg

So in other words, if a elementalist drops a meteor shower on your party it’s a oneshot? I think you’re seriously underestimating aoe damage here.

Sorry, but this just doesn’t look like much.

I think it should be as
Light side for heals/cleanse
Dark for dps/condis
Utilities will be basically to increase each sides effect or wep skills.
Of course balancing this would be hard so anet wont probably do it since they can barley handle whats on their plate currently.

btw might want to add Lance to mainhand for lance/shield. Because lances are kitten. Jes.

So basically you wanna combine the most overpowered portions of the most overpowered classes, Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist and mesmer into one single class for you to steamroll everything and everyone.

Uhm, no thank you, it’s good enough a it is and to be honest the class name itself is ludicrous to say the least, sounds like some bad religious cult.

I’d rather they introduce:
- more weapons skills to allow for customization on current weapons in the game.
- new weapon types to expand said customization.
- new elite skills
- new races, like kodan or the lagos, NO to tengu and NO to skritt (seriously)

thats kind of the point of the name, i have a whole lore background to them as well, and you’re misunderstanding that what you think im pulling from other classes is things that ive been designing solely for this, i didnt take from anything else except maybe the ele’s idea of attunements, i admit the numbers and boons for some of these abilities are way OP and im working on toning them down as we speak

lol those classes either can’t be added for lore reasons (dervish) or are encompassed by the abilities of other professions paragon being similar to guardian and ritualist being similar to mesmers, necros, and engineers

you can go ahead and flesh out your criticisms, i like criticism, but take in mind i know about the op-ness and i will tone it down lol

My initial criticisms were that this was being labeled as a heavy class and the role that the class would play amongst the others. It was obvious that a lot of the skills were OP, and you even stated them as such, so there’s no need to discuss them.

When I think heavy classes, I think of classes that would normally wear plate armor. Warriors, guardians, paladins, and so on are the types of classes that I see that would where this armor type. They’re melee classes that are generally in the thick of things on the front line.

When I saw you mention that your new class would a dedicated healer, buffer, CC, stealth, and condition damage; I thought it sounds awfully like a mage class which normally wears light armor. In all of the RPG games that I have played, I have never seen a mage-type class wear plate armor as their primary armor type. Quite a number of games have heavy armor that has a strength stat requirement.

Your class just conflicts with how all other RPG’s consider a heavy class. Now as a light class, I see no issues. You could argue medium but your class looks primarily magic casting.

The second criticism was the role that the class would play. You listed things that all classes already do. Also mind the fact that this game does not have a trinity system and PvE is primarily DPS based. Your new class would not be more desirable than another DPS player.

Now you could argue that for zerg play, such as in WvW, that you could help out. There’s just one problem with that. All buffs are limited to five players. Any additional benefit you could give players would be insignificant. Even if there were more than one of your class, that’s that many less DPS and the buffs will overlap with one another unless you all are evenly split up into parties. I can tell you that that rarely happens. Along with overlapping with other players of your class, there’s the overlapping of the same buffs that other players cast on themselves.

well i guess im designing from a WvW perspective, it’s the main reason i bought the game, and my guild is very coordinated in WvW, we make sure each party has a guardian and such, but he is being designed to be in the thick of it like any other melee class, but also has a ranged design mixed in with a few weapons that would do that like a staff, or do something like the mesmer greatsword and use a short range weapon at a medium to long range, it’s still a new concept so has a lot of flaws lol

The problem with your “light” side of the class is the game is not designed to have any type of dedicated healers. We don’t need a class for this and we already have plenty of bads playing staff guardian who think they are helping the team with heals.

I can’t even imagine adding a class with a description that says something about dedicated healing. You would, literally, never be able to PUG a dungeon again.

Apart for the overpowered skills, the only thing that doesn’t fit the game is a too marked Light/Dark theme.
I know that years of games and medias have filled the brain with duality where heroes of light fought enemies of darkness, but THANK GODS we don’t have such a thing here in GW.

This game is free by this old and overused concept, so here’s my tip: you may like it, but I highly suggest you to search for another theme for your class.
Also, instead of creating a class to adapt to the lore, create a class that is already possible, if not present, in the lore and extrapolate it.
