From two months ago. The first reply states “Mentioned many times to ANET”.
So yes, a very old suggestion.
This is not my idea. There simple housing’s and housing like I suggested. It’s more than having a home where you put your stuff etc…. it’s more your own Lands and army. this is a different concept.
Housing like this post mentionned is not really attractive. Mine is completely different.
So Tyria will have thousands of Kings and everyone of them has armys of thousands of men ?
Would be funny if 100 Kings with 100.000 soldiers would go to kill Jormags Claw ..
This is NOT a single player game .. so how should that work .. and what has that really to do with game ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

It is similar in the need for a space for this.
However, your idea focuses far too much on the “singular”. You are the king of an army. But you are just one in a million players, all with their own army.
Plus, you are not a commander. You are barely a leader. Trahearne saw to that nicely. It just doesn’t fit into the story at all.
It’s also part of the current CDI.
I didn’t give a full detailed solution to all the problem that could be but I am trying to think with all of you? is it not the purpose of this forum?
Technically your scenario is not feasible, and the GW developers should define some limits to reach the feasibility of the game.
I would really appreciate to get constructive feedback to think how it would be possible to do it.
I am trying to communicate a concept. Do you like the concept?

No .. total different kind of game / genre.

your idea while interesting sounds more like a RTS game tbh or something like Mount and Blade- which is a really cool game.
Thing is it makes no sense in terms of the story for there to be how ever many lords
each with his own army.
Certainly they would not be fighting each other.
the only real “armies” in the game would be those of the Pact.
What if you would enjoy personal housing, but don’t want to command an army? Are you just SoL, then? I didn’t really understand your concept, who is fighting whom? Are you suggestion having 100s or 1000s of heroes wherever you go in-game? Or is this an instance? If it’s an instance, again, who is this army fighting, and/or what is its purpose? If they are fighting an AI mob, wouldn’t that just be a single-player game within the MMO? And wouldn’t that just diminish the population of the open world?
I can’t say I’m very enthused about this form of personal housing, but maybe I just don’t understand what you are suggesting.
While I realize that player housing is a plus for many, I am personally not a fan.
I have played games before with housing, and in general, I ended up spending tons of time decorating and grinding for household items rather than actually playing the game.
What I do endorse, however, is a Hall of Monuments type area in your home instance in which you can show off all your awards, achievements, special trophies and armor, somewhat like GW1.
As far as your concept, again, while it may be a good idea in other games, I just don’t think that spending your time defending your homestead is a good idea in this game. There are already events and zones which are relatively empty due to game design, and it would take even more people out of the general population.
Perhaps a bit like Skyrim – Hearthfire? I did like the idea in Skyrim of having my own property in different towns, where I could store my things, and build different types of workstations in the house. Perhaps in GW2, we could buy a plot of land in LA, and have a personal locker and add workstations, and decorate the house with in-game purchases.
I think it should be done as Guild Housing first though…. since it leans more to the community spirit of the game.
Been covered quite a bit over in the CDI thread.
Personally, I miss the housing potential of Ultima Online. Not so much the rest of the game, more me and my brother out on a boat fishing up stuff from a shipwreck and hoping for the wall-sized painting.
Usually would get nothing but barrel staves.
First, thx for your replies and comments.
I am new to GW2 and I played many mmorpg and you always get to the point that you reached to highest level and did almost everywhere even if the world is huge
In GW2 the Server to Server battles are really interesting and is completely different from the classic quests and groups/guild battles and it doesn’t shock anyone because it’s not mandatory.
So the same idea here, it’s an added value to a player that is bored and normally would have start another mmorpg.
What some of you said make perfectly sense to me. Most of my friend would not have leave GW2 if there were seeing perspective of evolution when reaching level 80.
I think that when reaching highest level you could get some kind of prestige and then see new opportunities offered to you. Again, what “Inculpatus cedo” said make completely sense, technically it would be complicated to bring 100,000 mobs/players fighting together but maybe it could be limited to a number of lords per map.
Maybe you could go to battle with your best warriors and each lord brings his best ones?
I am not meaning to mix this with the current game directly but more than another alternative to the game by finding a connection in the history.
For example, your character reached lvl 80 and now you have multiple options, continue to play as usual(like Beldin) or/and to start playing server vs server or/and play Lords mode.
Personnaly and many of my friends like the idea, so what Morrigan says is correct and it looks like an RTS online but why not? If this game provide all the aspects why to reject it?
Years I am moving from a mmorpg to the other… it would be so cool to stay longer and always rediscover the game.
Private instanced housing is high on most lists of requests that I’ve seen. Private instanced housing as a host to an army-building content set is a very different order though.
You’re essentially asking for a whole second game to be instanced in the regular game, and it’s one that doesn’t particularly fit with the regular game. Our characters are all ultimately members of the same Alliance of Nations and Orders, cooperating rather than competing. None of the major Nations currently have political systems particularly conducive to the sort of fracturing being described, not even Lion’s Arch any more, where piracy is declining to just a cultural footnote, in favor of “legitimate” business.
Basically, it sounds like it could be a cool game that you want, but not one that would fit in with GW2 at all.

Private instance housing with paid security staff as the moneysink to defend against grawl, Sons, Nightmare Court and so forth would be one thing. Armies not so much, for all the reasons already mentioned.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
