I’ve always had mix-feelings about the fractals but I do know one thing, there exists the opportunity to make some really great levels given enough time and testing, along with proper balancing between casual and hardcore type players.

So today, I was thinking about new ideas for Fractals and I had an idea that could satisfy both types of players ~

Branching Fractals -

Branded Battle
Players must fight against Kralkatorrik’s minons in order to save some [insert researchers/soldiers/civilians] during the encounter, after the players defeat the first sub-boss they are given a choice of paths to take. First path is the easier option with trash mobs and a slightly quicker path to the final boss, second path has much more trash mobs and an extra boss fight (w/ achievement) however once the path is chosen, the other path becomes blocked off so the players are forced with the decision they make.

This gives casual players and/or players wanting to complete the fractal a faster and easier way to the end, but also gives the hardcore/achievement hunters and extra option with a extra chance for a bit of loot at the expense of extra risk/time.

then you’ll just find groups that will never be able to get the achievement, because everyone will go the lazy way. I don’t think that the difficulty should be lowered.
