Was looking forward to LA more than anything else and this is so bland.

No character at all.

Sigh…

I shall never forget you, once old grand pirate city of thieves!

I was sceptical, especially during the intermediate phase, but I actually really like the new design.

The bit around Trader’s Forum and the Grand Piazza are a bit weird (although I find the octopus bank strangely amusing) but I really like the Commodore’s Quarter (formerly Canal Ward) and the streets along the waterfront. All the little winding streets and haphazard houses make it look more like a real city where people actually live than the old LA ever did.

I just want to know where the sewer entrance is ;-; my favorite part of old LA

I don’t like it. Its krytan features have been turned into some homogenized elf/plant city that has no resemblance to its foundation.

Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll blow it up again soon. Or maybe the giant lobster will come to life and run amok.

I like it, though. Reminds me of Disneyland, or maybe Sea World.

Seaworld looks a little weird, but at least now you can hop into the MF and pretend to be Dr Manhattan.

Other than the fact I’m disappointed they lost sight of its krytan roots the work is not bad, but the lore took a hit.

Well I enjoyed it. As a main WvW player I spent a few hours just running around and listening to the NPCS and looking at everything. Probably missed some stuff as well but I’ll be back to explore some more. I think the art and everything is great. Before patch was talking to a friend and I said I hope its better then the old LA and in my eyes it is.

Can’t keep everyone happy.

Actually I think it makes sense that it’s less obviously a Krytan city. The original (in GW1) was the Krytan capital, the 1st GW2 version was built by pirates but I’m guessing (haven’t read the book yet) that they were mainly humans and limited to using local materials.

This new version is being built by members of all 5 races, with resources, skills and techniques coming from all over. So it makes sense it would draw on more themes.

Although I am a bit surprised by the glass domes which look a lot like sylvari architecture. With Scarlet having destroyed the last version and the recent revelation about the sylvari I’m surprised they’d want to include that.
