Does no one else feel the new outfits are overly metallic? Cloth hoods look like they’re made 100% out of metal… lol

The glossy look is annoying yes, it just screams ez gemstore $$$ to me.

I agree, they look too metallic. It’s one of the reasons I haven’t bought some outfits even if I liked them.

I think the metallic look is great, an aesthetic that was missing from earlier skins. This is why I am glad that ANet is releasing tons of outfits: I’ll dislike most of them for one reason or another, but eventually there will be at least one I can enjoy.

I think it looks like glossy leather more than like metal. The Taimi outfit in particular strikes me as very leathery. And thus more protective than simple cloth.

Try duller tones if you want less gloss. I used good old basic Rawhide for the main field on the Marjory outfit on my charr Revenant and it comes out very nice and rough for him.

I won’t say I really pondered long on the dyes. He’s not an oft-played alt. But here’s how I got a pebbled leather look — dyes are Rawhide, Midnight Rust, and Shadow Abyss. For comparison, his regular mix and match armor is dyed in Tarnished Silver, Cocoa, and some Midnight hues varied piece by piece to get a match. I tried to give him a similar palette in the outfit.
