Not sure if your trolling, being sarcastic or jokeing…..
It’s a good advice. You’ll get help ingame – forums are mostly full of whiners, haters and trolls. Well, not everyone here is unhelpful, but you know.
My only advice: Take the class with the playstyle you enjoy most. And buy new bags (10 slots) as fast as possible, because your starter bags won’t hold much.

How free is this game…..when you say buy bags, will i be able to use ingame gold and not micro transactions??
If you want to make money, sell everything you find. If you want to progress fast and be self sufficient salvage everything you find of blue or higher quality. Do not buy any traits, ever. It’s a waste because they system will be changing in the future. Feel free to ignore dungeons until later.
When you do try your hand at dungeons and eventually fractals use LFG. Look for friendly types taking all sorts, and always announce up front that you’ve never done it before.
Don’t commit to a character until you’ve had a chance to play with it. It’s highly recommended to jump straight into PvP so you can run around with a level 80 and test out all the weapons and skills before committing to anything.
It isn’t that big a deal to delete a character. There is very little that is bound to the character such that if you deleted it you would lose it forever.
If you’re into appearance options, make three of each class choosing each of the three visually distinct options then delete that character just to unlock it for all characters.
Do map completion on all 6 of the main cities for easy levels. When you finish you’ll be very close to level 10, which is when you can do the first part of your personal story.
Choose race based solely on aesthetics

Yeah sure. You’ll have to explore a bit until you have enough silver to buy some bags.
Micro transactions / black lion trading company mostly sells convenience items like special skins, infinite farming tools etc.
Welcome sparky, check out this thread. Some things might be a bit out of date due to some changes in the game but there are a lot of good tips anyway:

As for advice about the forums, there is a little bit of truth in that. The forum can be a bit overwhelmed with people that like to complain about everything. It can be a bit of a bummer at times. However, there are very good areas of the forum like the Players Helping Players sub forum located here:
Take your time to explore the world and don’t worry about grinding levels. Just play events as you run into them. Feel free to ignore the hearts if you want.

If you’d like some in game help add me to your friends list. I’ll show you the ropes.
The Darksoul Leddy
Pressing “I” for inventory and then pressing the “gear icon” on the top right and then select “deposit materials” in the menu when you inventory gets full.
You’ll thank me later.
Or, maybe not.

There is no content blocked behind a pay wall. Once you have the game, you can do everything in it. Game gold can be used for anything you want. The pay store (buy gems with money, spend gems on items) holds cosmetic and convenience things, but nothing even vaguely pay-to-win.
What’s more: you can buy gems with game gold. They are expensive, yes, but once you’ve been around a while you’ll be able to get things you want that way.

Everything can be bought for a in-game gold. In game gold can be traded for the gems (cash shop currency) if you want something from it and don’t want to spend RL$, and that’s just cosmetic, few boosters (not needed IMHO), additional bank/bag space and gathering/salvage convenience tools. It’s not microtransaction heavy as other games around.
Well, i did buy this game just for the “free” fact. I was on a MMO hunt, and i said to myself there must be another game than World of Warcraft, cause im not subbing just to play a freaking game i bought???
So hopefully this game wont dissapoint as it will be my 1st true MMO

Also thanx for the list bro. I dont know what half of it means yet, but i will keep em in mind once the time arrises
Try the Player Helping Player board and not the General Discussion board. At least the ratio of those genuinely wanting to help Vs griefing is considerably higher.
RIP City of Heroes
Also another question that is kinda of topic. I see there is an expansion on its way. I have read up on this expansion on this site, but i have no clue what im reading lol.
In a noob kinda way, what will this expansion change or add in the game?? New items? More end game content? Upgraded animations or what?

Thanx, i will remember posting there the next time around. Only posted here cause of my discussion is “general” so the “general discussion” page seemed more appropriate

Welcome aboard.
Players helping players is the place to hang out as a new player in the forums.
In game, ask for help and most people will tend to be helpful
Explorer and do all the things in the game. Seriously. The world is huge and gorgeous and there is no lack of things to see, do, hear, etc in the game.
Do dungeons at level 80 and just have fun.
Soraya Mayhew – Thief
Melissa Koris – Engie – SF for Life!
My advice for you is to enjoy exploring the world. Don’t bother about your character’s gears just yet, just buy those cheapest blues/green gears as you level. Start doing dungeons and gearing up exotics/aesthetics when you’re level 80.
As a new player, go explore and appreciate all the beautiful scenery of every zone. It’s awesome design you know. Complete the zone you are in. Enjoy and don’t let others bother you. Play as you like it.
Visit wiki.guildwars2.com if you need infos. It’s all in there.

False. If you did not unlock the living story chapters when they were free you have to buy them with gems.

Actually that’s bad advice. He shouldn’t be spending any money on gear initially. Buy gear from karma/heart vendors. It’s more or less free if you consistently do hearts and events. Which he should because it’s the fastest way to level outside of zerging wvw maps or crafting, which he won’t be able to do yet.

The expansion basically adds more end game content, the level cap is not changing thought because the devs do not want everyone’s time and effort building up their characters to all of a sudden mean nothing.
There will be a new story, new areas, a new class (the Revenant) and new ways to play the original classes. Among other things.

True.. if you were not around for that story arc, or didn’t bother logging in to unlock it for free when it was available, you do have to spend gems. Gems that I pointed out can be purchased with in-game currency.

He can buy those CHEAPEST blues/greens like I said. Those that worth a few silvers, not golds. AND He shouldn’t be wasting karma during leveling phase. Better save those karma so he can opt to use it to buy exotics from temple vendors when he reached level 80. He doesn’t need to worry about leveling. Roaming around a map and completing every heart/POI/vistas/events is enough for leveling while enjoying the world scenery.

What is this “living story chapters” about??
Good morning Sparky! I hope you have the download completed.
Living story Season 2 is for sale in the Gem Store now, it was free when it was released. It is lvl 80 stuff, so you have time to decide whether you want it or not. It’s story does kind of lead to the coming expansion, but it is not required. If you just want to see the story and don’t care for the rewards, you can tag along with someone who has it opened.
Dont read forums, there are lots of whiners here that ether asking for something stupid all the time,or just prevent devs of making some content that they dont like.
There are ofc trolls that keep saying how GW2 have like 7 active players and such…
The Living Story was who the game handled content updates by having a story that affected the world in a permanent way. If you missed it, you missed it. At least that was how the first season worked. It ended with the destruction of Lion’s Arch and awakening the next elder dragon.
The second season of the Living Story is more or less permanent content that was free if you were playing when it was introduced but cost a “token” amount of money for each chapter you missed. There is now an item at the gem shop under Upgrades that will let you buy all that you missed at a 20% discount over buying them one chapter at a time. I believe the cost is $16 or 1280 gems for all of them.
The second season is about the elder dragon’s influence invading Tyria while also setting up the backstory to the expansion.
RIP City of Heroes

They progress the story of GW2 leading up to the release of the expansion. So if you care about the story at all then they’re somewhat important to get.
Although you’ll be missing a good chunk of story that happened before they put in the chapter system. Which kind of sucks but nothing can be done about it.
They’re 200 gems each I think? And there is 7 of them iirc.

He can get dungeon exotics easier than Orr exotics from karma. By the time he saves up 42k karma for just 1 piece he could easily be decked out in a full set of dungeon exotics.
Make a boom-boom warrior and build a real cool jazz healing set and equip all your flags and trait hardcore for all party flags all the party time. Then go into WvW and make it rain.
Warrior – The New Burninator! Strongbad would be so proud!
Guardian – Burn for you, heal for me, block for me and uh…sorry Im all out of gifts.
