I’d like dwarves more than anything. Of course, they’re turned to stone and the kitten pull would be of epic proportions to bring them back as a playable race, so I’ll concede that my wishes won’t come true.

If I can’t have dwarves though, maybe mursaat or kodan some day. I still expect Tengu to be first of the list but at least I can hold dreams while still maintaining a firm grip on reality.

Well, we don’t know that all dwarves everywhere were turned to stone. There might be others. Even now they might be migrating into the areas we know. Refugees, perhaps, fleeing some disaster. Or intrepid explorers, curious to see what lies beyond the horizon.

Well, according to Anet’s lore masters, we do actually know that. It may not have been posted here, but it’s definitely been said. Every single dwarf eventally took the right, and became stone.

I knew Ogden should have taken a left turn at Albaquerque.

New weapons and classes would be good but I think just opening up existing weapons to existing classes would go a long way. If they could make it so every existing weapon is usable by each class it would be amazing. I’m sure that alone would get a lot of people off of arenanets back.

Monk is probably the one class I want the most. Ritualist would be next. Then any of the missing classes from Guild Wars would still be good.

Tengu, Skrit, Quagan, and/or Grawl would be what races I want to see. Any one of those I think would be a good addition with plenty of lore to build around.

This game needs an xpac or it’s going to die.

As sad as it is, I have to agree…watched better games die on lack of new content and worse ones living on only due to lots of aditions

only playing a few months now, but i can’t even think of how dissapointed some of you guys are who play this game since release

Back to topic:

As mentioned a couple of times before, the Tengu are the most obvious choice for a new race. But if Anet would make the Lagos “put their wings in” when walking on land, those would be nice too

as for classes there are lots of possible choices, like the monk or a “dark” version of the Guardian

as a new weapon i’d love to see anything…my all time favorite would be the 2h axe and polearms/ spears on land.

But to be honest, I would just love ANY adition to the game just to be sure Anet is willing to bring new content at all.

Why is 80% of anet’s employers working on living story, 15% on gem store and maybe 5% on bug fixes, hud changes, balancing etc. ?

Because you’re wrong when you say you want races, classes, skills etc. What you really want is a fragmented, semi-permanent story with a cringey-akward lesbian love story at it’s center. Oh, and of course gem store weapons and outfits. Because who wants to customize their armor anyways when we can all run around looking the same, like a bunch of stormtroopers.

We just have to accept that Anet know better than their players what the players want. After all they got the almighty statistics.

as for weapons for sure there are more mace wammos than mace guardians, yet anet said there are low mace warriors playing with it (and its one of the strongest meta on warrior funny anet dont know it).

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

Tengu race is at least plausible. We know where they are, and their domain conveniently has a level 1 and a level 15 area right next to it, so that already almost looks like a plan.

Or it was at one point planned for release and then canned forever, who knows.

It has been confirmed that they were considered as a race for release but they didn’t make it happen – whether this was a deliberate decision or simply ‘we don’t have time’ isn’t really clear from my memory.

Still, might not be forever. It’s probably worth mentioning that the point of the Caledon that the tengu come out at is a level 10 area, so the tengu may still need their own 2-9 zone before they jump into the Caledon. We’re told they do have some problems inside the walls, including destroyers coming up from below, so this would certainly be plausible.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

just be happy the tengu arent a playable race. See the quality of charr armor? Tengu got sorta the same bodyshape (from a technical perspective), they most likely would suffer the same fate…of missing body features, stretched textures, clipping till the cows come home…etc..etc.

Rather have no tengu then dissapointing tengu..

Armour on Charr is a clipping-fail-fest, true that! (floating pauldrons ftw!!!!)
BUT:
I prefer my Charr over Human races (rocking one of those in rl already), Gremlins and Bieber voiced salad anytime!
Yes there are problems with beast races (Kodan thumbs is by far my most favorite), just look at those pathetic talking animations of that Grawl shaman or the Tengu!

Point is: With all those glitches, bugs and other embarrassing fails… failed Tengu would not make any difference at this point.

Better get them faily than don’t get anything new at all!

We need an aquatic race, but I think Quaggans are bad for a playable race (don’t get me wrong,I love them, but I wouldn’t like to play as them)

Largos…hm…I don’t know but IMO they lack a lot of details, they don’t seem to be a playable race because they lack so much details,I can’t see how we could customize them, also they have Wings…if people are already mad with Charr’s tail, just imagine how it would go with wings…people would go nuts

But oh well…just imagine if ArenaNet remade them (so they would look like their art concepts) and added a Claw weapon…My thief would love that.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/73/Largos_male_concept_art_3.jpg

I don’t think Largos are a good option for a playable race, IMHO.

A big part of what makes largos cool and wanted as playable races is the air of mystery around them, they’re stealthy, brooding assassins with dark armor, long white hair and permanently covered faces…

Imagine how “cool” would a male largos look wearing a full set of feathered armor ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Feathered_armor#Human ) dyed bright pink…. actually I’m making that if largos are ever released as a playable race..

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

If Tengu could fly that would be cool, but I’m thinking it would unbalance the jumping puzzles just a slight bit, LOL!

I heard an annoyed Tengu merchant say to a Sylvari “Yes my ancestors could fly, no I cannot”.

Grawl
cuz Ugg make smash

Semblar – Heavy armor class. Uses harmful and beneficial auras to control the battlefield
Aura of the Savior – Allies below 30% health regenerate 500 hp per sec. 1200 range
Reavers Aura – Anytime an enemy gains a boon, they take damage. 600 range

IMO we shouldnt worry about new weapons, but our existing classes receiving existing weapons. Within the general boundaries of lore.

I’m sorry for nitpicking, but why would you put “staff” for Rangers? The most obvious addition for me would be guns and rifles.

The Ranger in GW2 is closer to the Warden archetype “nature magic”, and we could really use a zerg weapon/ability (I would hope staff would be).

“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”

A mace doesn’t sound like the most complex magical tool… You’d just be bashing them in the face with different elements.

New Animal Companions: Elephants, Bats, Lions, Tigers, Crocodiles, Orcas, Dire Wolves, Gorillas, Pandas, Rhinoceros, Snakes(Anaconda/Python), Horses, Zebras, Komodo Dragon, Hippopotamus. There are millions upon millions of animals to choose from(still can’t believe 4 kinds of pigs were chosen and not Tiger, Lion, or Crocodile). Please, add more Animal Companions. New Shark breeds would be nice. Hammerhead and Tiger Sharks would be very nice additions.

New Weapons: Scythes, Whips, Spears, Tonfas, Crossbow, Eskrima Sticks, Bo Staves.
And expand the number of weapons each profession can use. I’d also like for the Elementalist to be able to have two weapon sets. I find myself needing to switch between my staff and double daggers very often, and weapons cannot be switched in combat. It’s very aggravating.

More Elite Skills. There are too few Elite Skills.

Bring back dinosaurs, but not those weird mutations from Eye of the North. Legit dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus, Triceratops, Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus. Thousands upon thousands of dinosaurs to choose from. And make small versions for Animal Companions. I would LOVE to have a Spinosaurus or Triceratops as an Animal Companion. It would be AMAZING. And as far as where to put them, create an island in the Unending Ocean for them to be on, like Jurassic Park. It could be called Isla de los Antiguos, which means “Island of the Ancients.”

A lizard-like playable race to go along with the island of dinosaurs would be awesome. I know it’s far fetched and doesn’t really have a place in Tyria, but it’s a harmless suggestion.

Expand on the Animal Spirits that a Norn can choose from in character creation. It’s canon that there are many more spirits besides Raven, Wolf, Bear, and Snow Leopard.
And make Elite Skills to go with them.

Make the Largos a playable race. The Largos are by far my favorite race in all of Guild Wars. They look amazing, and I want to know more about them. Opening up the Unending Ocean, giving the Largos a capital city, like Divinity’s Reach or Hoelbrak, and making them part of the overall story with the Elder Dragons would allow them to become an amazing playable race. It would also allow Bubbles to be incorporated into the Living Story after Mordremoth.

New Professions. Maybe not necessarily “new” professions, but bring back and revamp original Guild Wars professions. The Ritualist is my first suggestion. They could easily be incorporated into the game. Make Spirits like the Necromancer’s Minions. A healing spirit like the Blood Fiend for the Healing Skill Slot. A larger than normal spirit that when reactivated slams the ground, knocking up and interrupting nearby enemies. And make them mobile. Their immobility was annoying at times. And the Dervish would be very interesting to see be revamped for Guild Wars 2. The power to channel the Six Gods and take their form is awesome. I would love to be able to become Grenth or Balthazar. I realize it would be difficult to incorporate the Dervish into Guild Wars 2, seeing as there are 5 playable races, and the Dervish is specifically powered by the Human’s Six Gods. The Monk would also be cool to see revamped. As far as actual new professions, a Hemomancer/Blood Mage profession would be really cool. Or, trying to keep it PG, a Chi Mage. It could be released alongside Cantha, keeping with the Asian theme. A Shadow Mage profession would be amazing. Manipulating shadows and creating clones made of shadows would be fun. A new heavy armor profession based on manipulating metal would be pretty bad kitten too.

And for the Elementalist, make their armor change color based on the element they are attuned to. For example, when I attune to fire, my armor changes to red, and when I attune to water, my armor changes to blue. I feel weird using fire when my armor is blue, or water when my armor is red.

Interesting topic, for the record I would like to say that people should be very careful what they wish for when it comes to races. Especially if you have a “non human” body type race in mind. The Charr should stand as a grisly reminder of what happens when an entire race is left twisting in the wind on matters such as character customization and armor.

Existing lore doesn’t really matter to you does it?

Lions, Tigers, and Crocodiles are Animal Companions from the original Guild Wars, so they exist in lore. Gorillas have been seen in Orr, Bats are seen all over Kryta, so they too exist in Lore. Dire Wolves already exist. Garm, Eir’s Animal Companion, is a black dire wolf. Sharks exist, so new breeds shouldn’t be a problem. We see whales in Lion’s Arch and up north, so Orcas aren’t an impossibility. We have bears, so Pandas are very possible. Elephants, Rhinoceros’, Snakes(Anaconda/Python), Horses, Zebras, Komodo Dragons, and Hippopotamus’ are the only ones that are questionable at the moment, and most of them could be added if Elona is brought back, seeing as Elona is based on Africa, and Elephants, Rhinoceros’, Pythons, Zebras, and Hippopotamus’ are all native to Africa.

So, yes, I’ve taken lore into consideration, clearly more than you have.

What happens is players whine on the forums, and A-Net considers it, but says nothing because they don’t want to be caught with their pants down if they can’t deliver or deliver on time.

So they just say nothing at all on larger matters.
Which is fine with me. They dangled GW2 in our faces for what? 3 years before anything concrete showed up. They don’t want to disappoint people, and I’m fine with that.
I like surprises anyway.

Here’s a surprise: Anet isn’t working on an expansion. If they were the CDI’s would be abuzz with ideas and conversations related to classes, races, continents, skills, which they aren’t. And if they were making an expansion the Living Story would be taking at least a one year hiatus to focus on content development. That’s not happening either.

And just in case you still aren’t convinced, think about this: Anet announced GW2 and stood by their statement of “It’s ready when it’s ready.” They didn’t disappoint anybody with this. They could easily announce an expansion and say, “it’ll be released when it’s ready” and the playerbase will respect and understand this. Would we still ask for updates? Sure, that’s human nature. People ask questions.

What we have now and for the foreseeable future are thin Living Story updates and PvP tournies. Unless Anet hires a small army of new developers and artists it’ll be status quo for 2015.

The new class was already datamined:

LIVING STORY HERO

Skills:

LIVING STORY EPISODE: Strike the enemy for small damage and interrupt a skill. Using this skill initiates a 20s CD, any interrupted enemy skill is also on CD for 20s.
PLOT ARMOR: For 10s, you become immune to conditions and damage.
SOON TM (Heal): Does nothing initially, but when you reach 5% health you go back up to 75% HP.
CANTHA: For 6 seconds, the target area becomes void of existence and no enemies can enter it.
NO EXPANSION: Target enemy’s range for all skills is reduced to melee range.
FRACTURED (Elite): Target is reduced by 30 levels for 5 seconds.

Also the new race is locked to Sylvari only, because all important heroes are Sylvari.

new races yes but i understand writing the story is a massive undertaking.

Weapons kinda more interested in seeing current weapons made more available on more classes but yah pole arm scythe two handed axe melee staffs all sound awesome and i would pay into the game again even as a paid x-pac to get them.

Classes oh man i would love just a couple more classes tho i know its kinda hard all the classes we have kinda fill all the potential roles. but i guess a reaction survival class would be nice a class mechanic that lets you toggle blocking from the front. skills would likely focus on knockdowns and dazes.

additionally HOLY CRAP WvW why are we not updating the hell out of the games most marketable feature?
