New Release Schedule?
The release pattern for the finale of Living Story: Season One’s went like this:
- 6 weeks off to prepare for 4 updates.
- 4 updates occurring every two weeks for an 8 week period.
- One “filler” update with some story but not much gameplay.
- 4 weeks off to prepare for a “feature only” patch.
Together these updates lasted 16 weeks or 4 months. Obviously ArenaNet is taking some time off to ensure their updates are of a higher quality.
My observation is this: if ArenaNet releases 1 story arch and a batch of updated features every 4 months, how is that different from a standard MMO release schedule where one new patch releases every 4 months (except that GW2’s patches come in pieces and GW2 doesn’t have expansions)?I’m just curious what other people’s opinions are about this. Does anyone else think this will be the new release schedule? /discuss
It isn’t their new release schedule. It’s just how it worked out at the end of season 1. I don’t see them doing season 2 any different than updates every two weeks even though it is a schedule they obviously have a hard time doing properly.
Also, I LOL’d pretty hard at the part in bold. Your a funny person.

I think it’s a preemptive compliment? I personally would like to see less need for 5 different game builds every two weeks. And a wee bit more time to coast in between story bits. Three weeks would be just about right for keeping things fresh and giving players time to continue exploring what else is out there.

6 + 8 + 4 = 18 What am I missing?
I think once Season Two begins, it will be back to bi-weekly releases, though there may be some patches that are content-based, and some that are feature-based.

lol, man these forums are great on April fools day.
