Edge of the Mists is opening early in the year. It’s in beta testing now.
Not quite what I’m looking for. I’d like to see them open up more pve maps. I need something new to explore, lol.

Well, last year they added one new zone and it’s completely deserted most of the time. many of the other zones are also very sparsely visited.
It takes a LOT of work to generate a zone’s worth of new content.. and the player base will be “done” with it inside a week, so it’s just not a good use of dev time.

They are keeping a pretty tight lid on it but I imagine we’ll hear something when Colin previews 2014 for us in January.

I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. Southsun has quite a few people there as it’s quite good for farming. Also, Karka Queen is worth all the monies and karma and loots. In fact, thanks to world bosses, a lot of zones that would otherwise be empty see a lot of use.
So long as they put useful things in the new zones, I see no reason why we shouldn’t see new ones relatively soon. New world bosses, new champ farms, new armor sets, new heart quests, new orders to assist, new all kinds of things! I have no doubt we’ll see new zones, and look forward to it very much!

Don’t expect too much, though.
For all we know they could be keeping this as a secret “weapon” for when people start massively leaving their game.

People used it until….
They butchered open world farming. Removed half the mobs, removed the rich Ori nodes and otherwise kept it underwhelming from a playability standpoint.
Then they added Karka Queen which while good, doesnt draw people to doing it.
Neither did them ignoring the passion fruit / flower issue that had been ongoing for around 6 patches. Granted its fixed now but the damage was done.
Nothing done to it in its current state makes people want to go there. Even its Guild Missions are lackluster by comparison to other zones.
