Hey, just bought this game today and while I’ve been enjoying it, I’m really confused about the achievement system, probably because I used to play WoW. On my Charr character I’m in the starter area and I have a couple of these achievement points, but I’m not sure what from, I have Last Stand on Southsun in the top right corner which I assumed was my current objective or something, but I find that’s not even the area I’m in or relevant to the achievements I got. How do I find what the points I have are from?

You can find the achievements in the hero panel (“h”). Just the last button on the left side.

Ceana Mera | Mesmer
Indra Nebelklinge | Revenant

Press H. The bottom icon on the left is your achievements. All your achievements can be viewed there.

Southsun is part of the living story content. Though it’s not in your area, anyone can go to Southsun to participate. I have no idea what level you are, but you do get levels to 80 (at least as far as stats) when you visit Southsun during the event. Though it’s a bit late in the day, and you probably wouldn’t get all the achievements now.

The Living Story changes constantly and the next phase of it is about to begin called The Dragon Bash festival, which takes place in Lion’s Arch.

Every home city has a portal to Lion’s Arch in it (and you can also get to Lion’s Arch by going through the mists at any time for free).

Lion’s Arch has a portal that takes you to Southsun as well, near the Fractals of the Mists dungeon.

Well clearly I have a lot to learn about this game, lol, but I’m looking in the achievements tab and I’m still not sure what the points are from. I’m level 2 and have 2, are they just from that? I don’t see any achievements done from any of the sections.

They’re the bottom tab in the Hero panel (usually opened by pressing H). It lists all your achievements there and how to get them. Achievement points aren’t so much the focus of this game like WoW. You generally won’t ever be asked to link achievements, firstly because you can’t as far as I know (you can see others total achievement points however if you’re in a group with someone) and second, people are a lot more laid back. I say generally, there will always be those who demand perfection but you have a choice in this game to play how you like and not how others want you to play. If playing to perfection is what you like about games the options are there for speed runs etc but they usually ask you to link gear instead.

Being lvl 2 you probably don’t have any achievements. Where are you seeing your points?

I think you got them from daily achievements. There are not many achievements that provide this amount of points, especially on your lvl.

You’ve probably done without realizing it, two daily achievements. Every single day, there are daily achievements. To complete the daily and get the reward chest, you have to complete at least 5 of the listed dailies.

Whether or not you get the bonus chest, you still get 1 achievement point for each daily you complete. So let’s say you killed 40 creatures in kryta or ascalon…if that was one of the dailies, you’d have gotten a point for it.

Most of the daily achievements can be done quite quickly and easily. They’re great for extra experience. If you do five of them, and get the chest, don’t use your jug of liquid karma. Save it till you’re max level. You’ll get far more karma out of them that way…and you get plenty of karma before than just for playing.

It just says 2 total points in the achievements tab, not sure where they’re from, the closest thing it looks like I’m completing is 38/50 monsters killed, so Idunno. I’m sure it’s not that important anyways.

Edit: I did a random event or two, one involving cow prodding, and defending a forge which I failed. Probably something like that, thanks for replies.

Give this a read – http://uk.ign.com/wikis/guild-wars-2/Starter_Guide. Can really help you when you first start. Guild wars plays so differently to any other mmo so it can take a while to get used to if you’ve played any others a lot, but really is easy after a while. I personally wouldn’t be able to go back to any other mmo, just because it wouldn’t feel the same lol.

Could have been gatherer, dodger, jumping puzzle found…..

Those are ones you might not even notice doing. If a little purple circle with a yellow star shows up in the lower right-hand side of your screen, with some text, it means you just achieved something and got some points. =)

Welcome to Tyria, may your adventures always be awesome! And just in time for Dragon Bash!!!
