Actually the only time they advertised the whole new content every two weeks was during the time when there was new content every two weeks. So not really anything lied about there.

They are most likely also going back to the two week release schedule starting on Tuesday when S2 returns.

We also did have new content (depending on who you ask) less than two weeks ago with the added stuff to the Halloween festivities.

If you do want a refund you will have to contact support. Keep in mind that a refund will only be considered if you bought the game directly from them and within 6 months from now.

C’mon a hardcore GW2 fan would not call this Halloween event NEW content. Yes S2 is starting soon, but it only has 5 episodes left. That is 10 weeks. Some where in there will be the X-mas event….hey which is old recycled crap from last year as well.

As dead as this game has become {evidenced by mega-servers and last month they offered free weekends to play …..TWICE} i would gladly pay $100 for a new X-pac comparable to the Day 1 map.

Hell, i would pay $100 bucks now to get the OLD GW2 back. They have severely watered the game down for filthy casuals.

Anyone that bought the game is just as important to the game as you are.
There -is- new content in the Halloween event, whether or not you want to admit it.

Oh, so an advert is true until there is a new advert that contradicts it?
I suppose I should sue every single company in the world then seeing as I have yet to see a single company that have had a specific thing forever after it was first advertised.

I don’t think anyone on these forums would deny that I am a hardcore GW2 fan. Nor have I called the Halloween event new content. But according to quite a few people new items and rewards would be considered content, and as such there have been new content during this Halloween festival.

And after S2 finale we will most likely have S3 and so on. Fact remains that they release new content more often than the vast majority of other games in the genre.

The game is far from dead. Adding mega-servers simply made it easier to find people in all maps, due to the fact that some maps were usually quite empty, which is rather logical for a game with the high amount of maps and such available.

Free weekends is not a sign that the game is dying. Or are you suggesting that games that have constant two week trials are dying as well?

Lmao, adding megaservers made it easier to find people on all maps, because those servers were dying. If the servers were populated and doing well (as at launch) you would have no worries finding people on all maps.

and once again…LOL…that is exactly when you know a game is dying, when they offer free trials. The reasoning behind a free trial is to entice someone and hopefully they will open their wallet. If the game was a huge success they wouldnt be begging for new players. By begging i mean offering free weekends.

The time between s2 and s3 will probably be 4-5 months as it was from s1 to s2.

I have never seen a post on these forums from the ANET staff stating they were getting away from the original business model of new content bi-weekly.

LS Season 1 they did release every 2 weeks. When it came to LS Season 2 they said they took in players suggestions and decided to make LS Season 2’s content have more meat to them and that it may or may not be released every 2 weeks like LS Season 1. . Quality over quantity

As for “They have severely watered the game down for filthy casuals.” that’s extremely narrow minded of you to think Anet should make GW2 and anything new solely around the “hardcore” players and trying to make casual players feel unwelcome in the game by giving them the message “GW2 is for hardcore players only! If you are a casual player that may only play 1 hour a day or only a few times a week this game isn’t for you. So please go somewhere.”

Kill stuff to unlock weapons skills, most confusing thing I ever heard of. (sarcasm)

The “every two weeks” verbiage was in relation to the design model used during Living World Season 1. Lots of posters complained about LWS1, so the way the content was presented in LWS2 is different. Once ANet changed what was being delivered because players asked them to, there have been no statements about content being delivered every two weeks.

I’ve yet to see an MMO, any MMO, where the content presented was considered to be “enough” by some of the players.

As to refunds, I believe their policy at one time was they would refund your payment and cancel your account within six months of purchase. I’ve no idea if that policy is still in play. I’d recommend contacting customer service to investigate.

This thread is just bursting with White Knights. Haven’t you gotten used to the massive influx of players disillusioned with Anet’s handling of GW2 PvE sector yet?

To the OP: you’re most likely feeling the absence of any new, substantial content since launch. The Living Story is supplemental content at best. A snack to hold you over while Anet prepares another meal. however, players have grown tired of asking for an expansion, and that’s what GW2 desperately needs. Had Anet followed its predecessor’s blueprint for success you wouldn’t be feeling the lull as much.

A small minority spends that kind of money on skins.
Now if they had 1 Million or more ppl (like at launch) pay the $100 for a new xpac. That would far exceed these measly few that spend stupid money to look pretty.

I for one would actually say that more people spend $100 on the gem store than would spend that one an expansion.

Well then you sir would be wrong. The collectors edition at launch was sold out. That was $149.99 the digital deluxe was $80.

So, with the game being so stagnant and dead, i feel very confident people would dish out the money for a new xpac. Anyone spending $100 in the trader is crazy, that could be blown on useless consumables in less than a month or 2. When a new xpac would be forever.

OP,

If youve been here since beta you spent your money before any comment or advertisement was made regarding a two week release cycle. Since your decision to purchase could not have been influenced by said advertisement you are likely to find little sympathy for your refund request. Of course this is further compounded by the fact that youve been using the product for over two years with no required expenditure beyond the initial box price.

Good luck though.

The 2 week content was changed on that schedule for season 2 based on feedback by the community, who overwhelmingly fed back that content should be released when ready rather than adhering to a strict schedule.

Despite many communication faults, they did say there would be longer breaks, especially at mid season, to allow for wvw, feature packs and halloween.

They did not “lie” on this point

As to the expansion argument…i remain on the fence about this issue until season 2 has run its course.

The content is quality from the perspective of many. The actuality is that you personally do not enjoy it. Which of course is fine – there is no possible way the content can please everyone.

I thoroughly enjoy it personally. If that makes me a fanboi or white knight, well that isnt really an insult, so i am happy enough with that label

I certainly find s2 to be more enjoyable than s1 overall, but that’s largely due to it being not as temporary.

I think in terms of playable content, we probably have more of it than most MMOs so far into its lifetime, largely due to everything being still relevant at every level. So I don’t think its content that’s lacking at the moment.

We we sorely lack is character development. Cosmetic progression is nice but it really can only carry you so far, because once you got that perfect outfit, it’s basically over. We can’t exactly just switch our looks on the fly, so there’s really no point collecting skins which you won’t ever use.

We really need more ways to progress our character. More skills, more progression systems, more unlockable traits, things that make you feel like your character is growing.

I don’t consider myself either one, and have been pretty vocal about mistakes made and bad decisions.

However, I did enjoy LS1 for what it was, and I enjoy LS2 even more for the more robust storytelling and cutscenes. Just as any content creation takes time people need to be patient and let that happen. I am willing to take a wait and see approach. I have not been disappointed by content or the quality of it, and the focus of this latter part of LS2 digging into more GW lore I think is great. Sure there could be more content, but it takes time, and it should also be mentioned the new content that has been delivered is FREE.

Also, surely they have things they have been working on in the background and not talking about, it would be foolish not to.

Granted I MAY have missed that. But, there is absolutely no excuse to use recycled events like Halloween and X-mas with the size of the Dev team. That is pure and simple laziness.

Again, the halloween issue is debatable. On the one hand, every MMO I play has rehashed content, some going back years unchanged. Also, time spent on new halloween content is less time spent on;

a) new season 2 content and making it better
b) any “potential” expansion

Imagine the uproar from the community if the above were delayed or the quality dumbed down just because new halloween content was added for 2 weeks.

Having said that, I’d still be eager to see a furthering of the Blood/Madness tory next year….Just sayin’
