A few players have noticed that new items can be obtained in the Mystic Forge since last week’s update. We added a number of new items to the possible rewards for combining rare weapons in the mystic forge, including Bloodbound weapons, Aetherized weapons, Shadow of the Mad King weapons, and some orphaned skins from Living World season 1.
This was a part of a bigger update to the mystic forge which wasn’t quite ready for this patch, so we pulled most of the changes as well as the release notes. However, since this change did go into the build, I wanted to let everyone know about it.
Skinned orphans? Man, Zommoros will take anything now wont he!
He’s probably pretty hungry after being down there for so long.
Asura characters: Zerina | Myndee | Rissa | Jaxxi | Feyyt | Bekka | Sixx | Akee | Tylee | Nuumy

Will this include the scythe, which I haven’t seen yet, though greatsaw and grinning shield has been confirmed????

Apparently the destroyer scythe is a part of that loot table. Or were you talking about the Halloween one?

Good job on this… I knew you guys didn’t want non-legendary skins to rise above legendary skins price wise on the TP :P

Can you give an estimate about how rare those skins are? More or less rarer than precursor chance?

+1 good change thank you for that
a view suggestion i think would be good
1. fused weapons with the same random thing -> that way every weapon have another possibilty
2. can i please get a mystic forge reciepe for this staff datamined http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/gw2-staff-2.jpg
something like a bunch of onyx lodestones, dark steal , mystic coins and the eldrich scroll
my daredevil whant that skin so hard since i saw it :O
3. destroyer scyte should ,as mentioned all rdy, also get mystic forge reciepe
but an more expensiv one should be a rare thing maybe similar to volcanus
and if we are on it
4. as much as i like my unque voodo armor i would be fine if it gets also a hard mysitc forge reciepe and be the first hidden armor there
but EACH PIECE should need 250 shards of glory from pvp
those shards are wortless at the moment
i would also like to see a weapon set for those shards of glory maybe the full “myst” revenant beta weapon set ?
trading priced based on dungeon weapons maybe a bit higher
and on same patch you should reduce the drops slightly
Over 800g (~1.2k staves) into the forge and nothing.
The drop rates on these are abysmal.
The next time you want to burn 800g, you can feel free to send some to me for the Buy Pretty Things For Me Fund.
I’d rather just get my god kitten destroyer scythe
Destroyer scythe does not seem to be available, at least noone got it yet (it is not in the API)
Also of course the droprate will be abysmal. They are probably meant as a precursor replacement because people can get those via collections now. With these rare skins as possible rewards their is an incentive to burn t5 mats in the forge.

You need to either: Add patch notes with what you did so everyone knows or you need to completely pull the changes. For a company so worried about doing market shock waves and as a player who does A LOT of trading on the TP this change is completely ridiculous.
The reason why I ask is because Bloodbound weapons share skins with various named exotics that have been available throughout the game. So their inclusion seems rather pointless.
The wiki has upgrade slots listed but no stats. I’m assuming Bloodbound weapons have selectable stats. But, they are rare quality. You’re better off using an exotic with the stats you want and just pay a few gold for the appropriate named exotic to unlock the skin if the skin is all you’re after. Otherwise you could end up paying a lot more gold to buy rares to throw into the mystic forge in hopes of getting a rare quality Bloodbound weapon.
Question about the bloodbound stuff, does that mean that their old acquisition method got retired with the quarterly patch?
I honestly didn’t pay much attention to them., because I never figured they were worth the time investment using the old system, if the weapons had been cooler I think the system itself was nice though (I mean conceptually).

Never again am I buying any skin worth more than 100g now.
That is actually a good criteria to have, the very expensive skins are always a risk. I mean there is never any guarantee they will retain their value. Either because devs decide the skins can be reintroduced for one reason or another or because player perception of the skins changes.
If you think about this a bit longer, the change here makes perfect sense… because the people going for precursors are no doubt toiletting a lot less rares and exotics in their quest for classic legendaries the MF has lost some value as a gold sink for a portion of the player base.
This is just adding some of that value back, although we have no clue what the full intended rework would have been like, but if parts of it include dumping these orphaned skins back in circulation then I’d wager one of the goals is to make the mystic forge more appealing and thus function better as a gold sink and/or sink for exotics and rares.
So.. the 3k gold I spent on a Greatsaw a couple months ago was a waste…. :/ Sold an Eternity for it.
Never again am I buying any skin worth more than 100g now.
if it wasn’t clear that it was going to return someday.. you know like how chaos skins just returned and aetherized skins? you buy a skin because you want it, if you like the look of it then good for you, you should be buying skins because they fit a theme of your character, if it was worth 3000g to you then, then nothing changed now.
Super stoked you guys decided to do this. That doesn’t mean it was handled the right way though. The skins that were added to the forge are skins people could buy even if they were prohibitively expensive. The skins that should be added are the pvp skins that are still totally unobtainable right now. This is another 1 step forward 2 steps back issue. It feels like everything that is being done is for ArenaNet’s real world economy and little to no thought is given for the skins that players want that they cant obtain. Please correct this.
PS you really screwed over those of us who used these items as investments. When the market has no laws, why should we invest our time in playing your market? There’s no certainty that there are any fundamental rules in place. The market laws just change on a developer whim and that’s disappointing for those of us who find the market game exciting. Just food for thought.

Anet is kind of like the government. Their policy change can make some investor royaly rich or screw over people.

But it was clear they was going to be special rare skins, now they are just like everything else…. trash.
The TA Aether skins are trash now too. “If everything is special then nothing is.”
How old are the shackles? Weren’t they available last Halloween? I think these are skins that haven’t been traditionally available for years/post wardrobe.
I’m very happy to hear that the Weapon Skins have returned! I now have a very tiny chance to get the Chainsaw Greatsword and the Scythe Staff again!
Also happy that the Zodiac & Chaos Skins returned, too. I don’t get why people cry about “Boohoo my Bow-skin isn’t worth 1000g anymore! I don’t feel special anymore! cry cry!”
you can still show off your legendary and whatnot. I’m happy that skins do return and people have a chance on getting them again because they were broke or whatever when they were available the last time~! Plus: They replace other skins. So now other skins will rise in price and a new group of people can feel special for a few months.
Another, maybe related topic: Could you look into the missing Armor skins from the old PVP Reward System as well? I have a huge need for the Stalwart Shoulder Piece and would love to have a way to obtain that skin again, too. Please, please look into it.
PS you really screwed over those of us who used these items as investments.
Serves the robber barons right.
Now add in all those weapon and armor skins that slipped through the cracks when they implemented the wardrobe (maybe throw some in loot pools here, karma vendors there, etc as well as in the Toilet).

It is quite entertaining to watch all the snowflakes melt in the bright sunshine.
Well that explains why my bank just lost around 1.5k gold value … well, gg i guess.
I mean, im glad for others that they get new nice things now, but why cant i ever have nice things
But you already HAD the nice things. Now others can finally have nice things, too. I know it’s hard to be happy for others when you have the feeling you lost something. I’m sorry for those who have invested in the skins but I think the positive feeling overshadows that others now can have the nice things, too.
But it was clear they was going to be special rare skins
Nope, wasn’t clear at all. After first halloween, most people expected them to keep returning every year. Before each next event lot of people were certain it was going to happen then. Basically, it was certain to anyone that was paying attention that their artificial rarity will not hold.
Actions, not words.
