ANet said they were working on expansion content for years to come.
I really hope that this means as far as story awise that they will use that giant world map/globe and let us explore all those other GIANT uncharted land masses and not just focus on Elona and Cantha again…well Id like to see Elona and Cantha but the rest of the map would be nice to.
I mean look at that world map…its stupid huge…and then there could be other zones and worlds as well in the mist and other dimensions to explore like all underground, the 6 gods zones etc etc etc..
So much here for so much more story and exploration not to mention new races.

They purposefully made it huge because they want to make sure they have open ends on their stories.

Take for example WoW…..WoW’s world is all but fleshed out. And WoW is boring because of it.

I love how the world actually has some semblance of realistic scaling (obviously it’ll never be totally realistic), as opposed to a lot of MMOs where a whole world would fit (not just literally, thematically as well) into an area the size of a city in the real world.

To be fair, with tBC there were hints they were going to do the whole portal to different worlds thing but instead they decided to just keep adding more land mass (although Northrend did exist prior to WotLK but it just wasn’t on the map for whatever reason).

The difference I like is that it presents a more realistic sense of scale as presenting the playable world as the entirety of a planet usually makes for a very very small planet.

Yeh the scale is what makes me oooh and ahhh.

Just think if done properly and after a few years this game will be freakin huge!!

not counting all the other dimensions like underworld, fissure of woe and who knows other land masses in other “worlds” per say

I was reading that redditt article and didnt even think of the Main ocean being enough content for an entire expansion as well lol

Also this globe was taken out of (data mined?) the GW2 data files according to the article in the above reddit link.

Its a giant globe with human sized stairs going up to it according to teh article

One more here is a more (or not) accurate scale of the GW2 current map (beta) to scale with the world…soooo smallll

BTW, since no one else mentioned it, in game this globe is located in the Chantry of Secrets.

Hahahahaha. So true. They’ll probably implement a asura gate or ship travel between continents though, similar to the ship travel in GW1. Having the waypoint option would be lolsy though.
