I remember reading an article earlier this year about ANet’s plans for this year. They included new legendaries. Any word on them? have they been postponed? If yes how much?

Not likely to happen in 2013 anymore. One of the devs said as much a month or two ago.

Someone on the PTR for the new Edge of the Mists WvW map found a new legendary – a raven staff. I’ll see if I can find the link for it.

Ho that’s cool. See, so it’s still possible that it will happen =P

Colin did make a post saying that they were still shooting for 2013 for the new legendaries but that it was possible it might have to get pushed back a bit so don’t stress if they aren’t in before the end of the year.

He also said that the new legendaries will unlikely be weapons, but an accessory. As for the Raven Staff from the data mine, I wouldn’t take much stock in that being a legend. Considering it is in development, they may just use the purple font for instructional purposes, considering how it stands out (the text was DO NOT USE).

However if it is a new legendary staff, that thing is great and I’m looking forward to a new shortbow.

I’m pretty positive that this is a legendary weapons, not trinkets.
I’m checking the link i provided pretty often, And i clearly remember that there was no statement about legendary weapons, only trinket. They added the legendary weapon line much later. (if you will check the link you will see what i’m talking about).

where does it say it’s a legendary?
For all we know it can be a future gemstore item considering the rest of the screens are related to minis & the bikini clothes (all very potential gemstore items).
If there are no other screens from other new legendaries then it’s gonna be a long way till then (doubt they’d release them 1 by 1)

The font for the item is purple legendary – but like I said there could be a number of reasons for this particular font. Don’t get me wrong, I hope it is a harbinger for new legendaries as much as the next, but I’d hate to see more hate threads on these forums based on speculation.

This staff looks nice but needs a lot of improvements regarding effects and color. It has to stand out of the crowd even when i dun drag it out from my back :P More body effect would be nicer
