This probably has been mentioned a lot of times but wtf anet?

I lvled my guardian a bit with tomes of knowledge and I can’t select traits because I have to do some tasks or pay to the guy that sells them?
I’m poor on game, and you want me to buy traits?
That only promotes that I go and search guardian builds and get the ones that everybody else says are the best so I don’t risk myself.
Sure there are people that would say that I don’t need to do that, but I don’t know any other classes so I prefer to go with the meta.
Also why would I want to go and do events or kill champs for 1 trait?
Now, I prefer to never use that alt again,. In fact I prefer to nevcer lvl ANY alt just because of this.

Trait revamp isn’t really part of the NPE. There is a rather long Trait thread you can leave your feedback in, though. =)

Good luck.

I’m pretty sure they’re already working on changes to the trait acquisition system.

I came to the conclusion that it makes sense if ANet wants to introduce any new profession.

The old way you would have countless full traited instant 80s running around leveled by tomes or crafting everytime you introduce a new profession. Which again would make the lower level zones dead areas.

With the new trait setup you have two choices. If you are a veteran player, sink tons of gold into your character to avoid the old content, or, if you are too poor or greedy, go back to the old zones.

It is a win/win situation for ANet, as there is either a massive goldsink or a higher population on lower level maps.

Unfortunately it feels like a lose/lose situation for the players, but this might have been a simple oversight by ANet. But it’s not their fault, the Metrix said so.

Actually they want you to earn them…

Very much this. They want people out doing the content, not buying the stuff. They buying option was a compromise for people who are rich.

It took a guildie about three days to get all the traits he wanted. It’s sorta sucks if you have a lot of characters. If you only have one or two, I’m not seeing a huge problem, except for the bugged events which are annoying.

So those traits you’d buy.

Yeah .. Gayle mentioned something like that we could expect it in this quarter, if my
memory is right.

However .. in the end it is nearly a year now that we had to live with it and we still
don’t know what they change .. and maybe it will get even worse .. who knows ?

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

I really don’t know why Anet chose to damage the game for new players. Increasing grind because that is what Chinese players are accustomed to is the only explanation.

We have had no recognition at all from Anet over why they did this, what they expected to achieve, or how/if they will ever reverse it. We have only had some vapid and intangible recognition from the community representative, but nothing at all from anyone of real power.

They killed new character creation for me, and many others.

Where is increased grind if you can now level from 1-15 in 1-2 hours when before
you needed mayb 5-6 hours ?

Also have you ever tried to unlock all weapon skills on an elementalist before the NPE ?
THAT was really grindy ..

Of course .. the trait changes are still bad .. but they were not part of the NPE.

The idea of having to go out into the world is great, which is why Signet of Capture in GW1 was awesome…

But making people do this for every single trait in every single talent tree is just too much. I’d suggest to change this so that you only need to adventure for the grandmaster traits.

Also, change the event requirement since it’s really frustrating to run way out to a zone, only to find that the event you need isn’t up and won’t be for a long time.

I never mentioned NPE And neither did the OP, he said new levelling experience.

But pedantics aside, I think most of us are of the mindset that traits should be part of the levelling and character building process, not endgame achievements as they are at present.

What’s that? You can get most traits before level 80? Well… try getting a place in a dungeon story group on LFG without being level 80.

This is soooo annoying ! And when the event is up, noone is there! Yay! Also those Eternal Battleground traits really suck too.

Yepp … they really should use events that are at least soloable. I remember when a
member of my old guild wanted to try that thing in Lornas Pass .. i think he wasted
1-2 hours there and didn’t even got to the final step of the questline with the champ
because he already failed before that twice.
In the end he finally took my advice to just buy it.

Yay, now if A-Net brings out a new class or race you have tons of instant 80s running around leveled by tomes or crafting without traits. They’re probably wearing some Full-Exo set from a dungeon and doing stuff in low-lvl areas to get their traits.

The low-lvl maps being filled with low-lvl characters is not going to happen again. Neither mega-servers nor trait-unlocks will change that.
