Hello all,

I think the scottish pipe would be a great addition to the musical instruments in this game. As you know, the scottish pipe was used many times during battles to increase morale and lead the troops to victory.

What do you think?

I can not wait to have scottish pipes in WvW leading their zergs to victory or death..:)

I love bagpipes and fully support this suggestion (maybe you should change the title to [SUGG} Musical Instrument: Scottish Pipe so people don’t think there is one already). So long as they actually sound like bagpipes, anyway, the backlash against the “bass” has me worried even though typically the ANet audio team delivers high quality sound and music.

There are those in this world, however, who impugn the glorious sound of bagpipes and will scream bloody murder about being “subjected” to it. Fie on them! I love me a properly piped Renn Fest.

I have the feeling a GW2 bagpipe would be as annoying as the GW2 trumpet. So shrill. So loud. So obnoxious.

If they somehow made it so it WASN’T shrill, loud, and obnoxious, I’d be all for it.

Be interesting if they could actually pull it off. I think one of the big things about bagpipes though is the constant tone that’s played, not sure how well they could do that.

Yeah, the drone might be hard to do with how instruments have been so far. Plus, the drone might make other players want to kill you if it sounds bad.

As a beginner bagpipe player I strongly support this idea!

I would LOVE this. I’ve been a long-time fan of different kinds of Celtic music and I love all kinds of bagpipes!

Seems if you decided to portray them as a military marching instrument (as with Great Highland bagpipes), it would be very suitable for charr! Humans also have a great military tradition as well.

As for the drones, seems like they could be an on/off switch (as with Uilleann pipes) so you can choose to play without, as you might with a practice set. You shouldn’t be able to change the key of the drone in the same sense that you can’t change the key of the chanter. And I’d probably recommend going with the key of D major for the chanter, as I believe is most common. I don’t recall the keys of the drones.

Anyhow, I would just be SUPER STOKED if this actually came about.

Bagpipes would be something I would buy, however only if they actually sounded like bagpipes. LOTRO added them years ago and they in no way resembled the sound.

I happen to like the sound of a well tuned/played bagpipe, so would happily listen to ppl playing tunes on this.

I am a direct descendant of the first crowned King of Scotland. I would buy bagpipes instantly if they existed in-game and sounded like actual war pipes.

Please support the pipes! If we have room for a bass and an undersea organ, we have room for pipes. I would favor something more like the Uilleann pipes, which are more mellow and might cause less urge to kill on the part of people intolerant of the great highlands (who I always figure never heard them under PROPER conditions).

Bagpipe finisher = 80 gems
Bagpipe silencer x3 (15 min consumable) = 1500 gems
