New player.. easy on level scaling please.
actually that is the inteded area level range, where “most” would be around lvl 4, downscaling gets to you to level area + 1, the thing is that one can go from multiple ranges in a same zone, in queensdale for example, you can be lvl 5 in one area, lvl 3 in another, and lvl 7 in a different, all in the same adventuring area
Yes this seems like a good mechanic to promote fair play… I just think for a player who just honestly fully completes his starting quests/towns it shouldn’t be that penalizing(or just somebody who chooses to complete entire zone rewards before moving on, +1 level on a zone could easily be a bonus for taking extra time to discover every extra nook instead of staight up rush questing) .All I did was explore my starting town and now I’m penalized.
no, you arent being penalized, when you are downscaled to 5, its because you are on an area where most foes are lvl 4, this here is not penalizing, you are lvl 5, a level above the foes in this area, and further ahead this difference will be bigger and better (for you as a player) as you start getting to gear over the area, when you are lvl 30, with lvl 30 armor, a lvl 20 downscaled area will seem much more easier than lvl 20 with lvl 20 gear.
you also just started playing the game, and we ALL went through this, i also died many times over this when i was getting started, it has now become something relatively normal, and its not penalizing to go from 7 to 5 as i still keep some minor bonuses over the lvl 4 foes, as you level up higher, these bonuses will get better (slightly)
Ok thanks for clarification… Certain things I gotta keep in mind guess. Was just never used to such mmo mechanic before.
agreed, to me this mechanic is still fairly new (to me), the only other game i played before that had something close to this was city of heroes/villains, which had it both ways, upscaling and downscaling, though upscaling was fairly useless as the player that was upscaled had a major lacking of enhancements and powers, downscaling was much more effective.
