Hey community just giving a short feedback of my personal experience .
Background – 8 years xp of Wow and aion.
I originally made a “good list” but it just went on too long. This game is just fantastic, its the new generation of MMO, with graphics, leveling choices, story decisions, great puzzles, epic world bosses and these insane graphics. Plus i was super surprised at how having 40+ people in one area spamming abilities wouldn’t crash the server! when i played wow if we got 40 people pvping in one area the server would lag out and any more than that it would actually crash the server. The main thing is the community, i haven’t played a game with a community this great in a while, and on top of that the devs actually communicate with the player base with ideas, changes and problems. (you will never ever ever see that on wow) after being apart of the wow community for so long i thought most devs avoided communicating with the community.
At the moment i cant see any really bad aspects (at my stage of playing), but here are just some little things that caught my eye:
This game is just awesome and i wish 3 years ago i purchased this instead of world of Warcraft Mist of Pandaria. The only thing back then the lack of a free trail which i think for a game like this was sort of needed due to there being only a couple server homes(Dallas,Germany) and the graphic quality. It was a bit too risky to buy a game encase it didnt run on my machine or if it lagged too much(oceanic player). Perhaps in the future of anets game even having just a test client for ping/graphics for players to test there machines/lag on. As i know plenty of people that just didnt risk paying it upfront due to not wanting to risk it.
Just a comment on the lag, coming from world of warcraft with global cool downs before they implemented oceanic servers playing on 180 ms on west coast servers didn’t cause too much problems due to the way abilities worked. However in guild wars there is no global cds or any big implementations to help with lag ( i dont think global cds would fit into a game like this, it would ruin the idea) but due to the fact i play in the oceanic region connecting to a dallas server sitting on 200-250 ping, pvp can be very very very difficult to even land abilities and makes some classes like theifs near impossible to play well.
Also the difficulty on the first couple of world bosses (as i haven’t fought later world bosses yet). The shadow like boss was epic but the difficulty was a bit on the easier side. This was to the point where most players just tagged it and AFK’d in front of the boss. There was no dodging or watching for mechanics like dungeon bosses the only thing i found that can really get you in trouble is if you agro one of the elite adds and you don’t kite it and stand there.
Lastly i think some incentives for ranked PVP or adding in some new rewards to push the growth of competitiveness in ranked PVP would do wonders. I was really surprised when i did ranked PVP that i gained no extra rewards than the normal pvp queue…
