New player here, question about classes
Try guardian, they can take a lot of punishment due to their health regeneration.
Ignore Belial ….
Go for Warrior or Guardian if you wan’t easiest Solo/Group PvE
I Have 80
- Elementalist – PvE TORTURE kitten you even get two shoted when you’re lvl 80 in lvl 10 zone -.-"
- Thief – Squishy, but at times you can summon 3 more thiefs … but best in SPvP and WvW
- Warrior – Easiest and the most fun…People say it’s most fun when you’re challenged ..but I don’t know …if for them to often DIE (as squishy) Is fun ???Then I’m worried about them. Fun for me is when you’re safe and STRONG and can PWN mobs ^^ . Easiest, Tankiest, Biggest Damage both Melee and Ranged, Many weapons to try out, played by Main designer (meaning favorite Class of GW2, best buffs and best future
)
- Guardian (my last) – most useful in Dungeons, has heavy armor, but minimal Health …lots of buffs …still died MUCH more often then my Warrior
:D
Ignore Lillian Wandom Hale
“properly used with skill” every single class is very good in all parts of the game
some are easier than others when it comes to learning how to play it well, but all are good if you`re not dumb
What is considered to be the best solo class to level with/play with if properly used with skill at the moment?
I would go with Elementalist.
Easy to play, hard to master some may say!
Incredibly easy to play.
Most useful class in the game (Siege preventing, High damage, healing and AoE Combo’s), very good in Melee, very good in Ranged.
However it is a scholar class (Light armor) with very small life pool, so, play with care!

hum… L2P?

Any profession is viable, but not every profession gets into groups at end game as easily. It’s harder to pug dungeon groups as a ranger, a necro and an engineer.
Mind you, my guild runs hard content with all those professions and those people do just fine. It’s the min/maxers who are up in arms about that stuff.
All classes, really.
Try Mesmer though, great range, great survivability, great utility, very fun, hard to master.
Mesmer comes into it’s stride around lvl40 or so , so be warned.
I also find Engineer awesome for solo play because of it’s great versatility, good control, pretty survivable and decent support, it is also very fun.
Mesmer and Engi are my two favourite classes by far.
If played with skill, any class will do, but some classes require more skill to play than others.
If you lack skill, consider playing a Guardian, Warrior or a Ranger. Those are 3 very easy classes to solo with.

Elementalist can easily solo any PvE area, you just need to know how to play one. Though, Elementalist is probably the class with the highest demand of skill if you want decent results.

It comes down to which one suits your playstyle the best.
It sounds clichéd, but it’s honestly true.
I have all professions at 80 except for Necro and Guardian.
First was my warrior. This was fairly easy, although certain things were harder because I was still learning the game. In particular, it took me a while to get my head around gear that compliments a build. Orr was hard because everything CCed you on release and pulled you, and I was doing it in blues and greens; let alone which, I was one of the first there on my server, so didn’t have other people to rely on.
Next up was my Ranger, who by comparison was a breeze. Survivability was incredibly high, levelling was fast, and Orr was a breeze. However, I am aware that it was made a lot easier because I understood the importance of gear second time around. Before even attempting Orr, my Ranger had a full set of exotics.
After that, I did my Mesmer. Mesmer is the first class I truly hated while levelling. Low levels were particularly problematic, as Mesmer has DPS issues early on. I levelled by crafting to 20 which probably didn’t help, and I hated the experience so much, I levelled from 60 to 80 again by crafting. The twist is that once I’d unlocked all of my skills and traits and again had got him a full exotic set, he very quickly became one of my favourite characters. Playing at top level with all the options available is a blast on Mesmer.
Engineer came next, and while he didn’t have the DPS problems of the Mesmer, I was quite bored while playing him. This probably comes down to ever-increasing over-familiarity with the levelling content more than anything else. Crafting to level has now become firmly entrenched in my playstyle, so again I crafted from 60-80. But again, at 80, he’s an absolute riot to play, especially in WvW.
Thief, much the same story as Engineer, although I was also quite shocked at how squishy he was in the open world while levelling. It would probably have been thrilling if he’d been my first character, but now it was tedious and frustrating. But again, at 80, exhilaratingly fun play, with a constant balance between risk and reward. Unlike most others out there, I also focus on Sword and Dagger, so it’s not a very spammy playstyle.
My last 80 so far is my Elementalist, and this is probably my least favourite class. It’s just so darned conventional. Sure, I know it doesn’t play like other casters in other games, but there still seems something just generic about the class to me. I also absolutely hated how squishy the class was, even compared to Thief. I can see the value of Ele in groups, but I just find it so boring to play. And the traitlines are pretty uninspiring to me too.
I crafted a good 40 levels with her.
What I take from this is that for my tastes, there are too many levels in the game; that build is too dependent on gear; and that I like a really active, smack them in the face, physical profession. Oh, and that levelling by crafting is an excellent alternative that can alleviate the boredom.
I still have Guardian and Necro to level, but I keep bouncing off of them. Let alone which, having an almost full stable of well-equipped 80s can be something of a distraction. The game’s just more fun to play at top level. The lower levels just lead to frustration at the lack of options.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
XD ….I love how people mock me
I KNOW HOW TO PLAY ELE …
HE asked for easiest solo PvE ….
Is Elementalist EASIEST CLASS TO PLAY o.O ?
IMO it is WARRIOR … am I wrong … ?
Why the kitten do I even ask you kittened kitten guys XD…..
I PLAYED BOTH …..
Got them BOTH to lvl 80, BOTH to exotic, BOTH went trough multiple dungeons …
YES, no matter what people say, OMFG WARRIOR IS EASIER …..
He asked for easiest, I said who’s easiest …now people are angry at me ….what the kitten is with this kittened GW2 “community” …
(probably mad because they play the easy-mode class and now don’t want to seem weak -.-")

I’m sorry mr. Lillian but you didn’t read the two lines the OP wrote down. He didn’t mention neither easy or pve in his post.
That being said, the strongest classes while leveling/doing dungeons are Warrior and Guardian, and don’t require particular finesse. They are not that great in solo WvW though, especially the Guardian.
The strongest solo WvW classes are Elementalists and Thieves, although they lack a bit of “oomph” during the levelling process. Both get extremely strong if played skillfully.

" the best solo class to level"
So you level solo in WvW ??? o.O
Best = Easy in common understanding on multiple forums (DCUO, PW, FW, Aion, WoW, CO, HL, LoL…)

You are wrong, because what he asked is what is the best class to play solo if playing skilfully <— keyword right there
He never stated he was looking for the easiest class to play solo with.
Best does not equal easiest, especially not if skill comes into play.
Therefore, it doesn’t matter what class you play as, as long as you play skilfully you will be able to breeze to any non-group content like a boss on any profession.

On-topic, the answer is: the class you like best. Seemingly generic answer, but every class in GW2 is capable of soloing when used right (note that “when used right”=/=“stand in place and try to facetank everything and then complain about dying”). Your class makes a huge difference in how much you enjoy the game.
If you give us some pointers on what you like, we could probably suggest a few.

He asked to be powerful if skillful, lillian you are just wrong :p Best does not mean easy. And ele is easy for me to play, I don’t see how that’s an objective statement.
My personal expreience levelling so far 6 characters to 80 was that the Mesmer was the easiest. It still holds though my Warrior has rached lvl 65.
We’re all different and what one finds easy may not suit another’s playing style.
