Hello all! Sorry if this isn’t where I’m suppose to post it or if these questions have been asked before.

1.) Can you change the voice of your character?
2.) How do you get rid of a bag? I’m trying to drop leather bags for purple (atm).
3.) Is “evading” the only way to dodge attacks?
4.) Are skins only bound to the character you using at the time you use it? Or can it be taken off and used for a different character?
5.) Can you give items to another character on your account?
5.5) Is there a bank or storage place?

6.) When does an engineer get the ability to place turrets?
7.) Can an engineer summon a Golem?
8.) Does it matter what class I pick when I choose a race? Like If I were to make a Charr Necromancer or an Asura warrior?

9.) I bought the the Deluxe edition of this game, what does that mini “pet” Charr that fallows me around do? Looks pretty decked out, but doesn’t attack.
10.) (I can probably find the answer to this one on wiki, but I wanted to make it to 10 questions.) What’s the rarity of items in this game? Color or name. Like the skin that came with the Deluxe that I chose says “rare” and the color of the name is Yellow.

Answers in bold. No answer = I don’t know The quickest way to get a lot of answers is in the wiki as you mention in 10.

Hello all! Sorry if this isn’t where I’m suppose to post it or if these questions have been asked before.

1.) Can you change the voice of your character?

I don’t think so

2.) How do you get rid of a bag? I’m trying to drop leather bags for purple (atm).

The bags you originally get have to be destroyed (right-click, destroy). Any item with no sell cost at the bottom of the tooltip must be destroyed to get rid of it.

3.) Is “evading” the only way to dodge attacks?
4.) Are skins only bound to the character you using at the time you use it? Or can it be taken off and used for a different character?

All skins you unlock (by equipping or by salvaging) are stored in your Wardrobe. You can see your Wardrobe at the bank: its a tab on the left of the window.

5.) Can you give items to another character on your account?

Not Soulbound items. But other items you can put in the bank which is shared between all your characters.

5.5) Is there a bank or storage place?

Main cities have banks (Divinity’s Reach, Rata Sum, The Grove, The Citadel, Lions Arch). Look for a Bag symbol on your map.

6.) When does an engineer get the ability to place turrets?
7.) Can an engineer summon a Golem?
8.) Does it matter what class I pick when I choose a race? Like If I were to make a Charr Necromancer or an Asura warrior?

Not really. There might be some racial abilities that would go well with a Class though.

9.) I bought the the Deluxe edition of this game, what does that mini “pet” Charr that fallows me around do? Looks pretty decked out, but doesn’t attack.

Thats what it does. Minipets aren’t the same as a Ranger pet which can attack or defend.

10.) (I can probably find the answer to this one on wiki, but I wanted to make it to 10 questions.) What’s the rarity of items in this game? Color or name. Like the skin that came with the Deluxe that I chose says “rare” and the color of the name is Yellow.

To answer your 6th and 7th questions:

6) You can get those turrets with skill points in the Skills and Trait tab in your Hero Window (default key to open is H)
7) Only if your asura race, they have “golems” you can summon and drive as racial skills. Other races have different racials

3.) Is “evading” the only way to dodge attacks?
To dodge, yes, however there are other ways to mitigate damage from attacks.
If you manage to get the boon Aegis (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aegis) then the next attack will be blocked.
It only works on one attack, so try to get that boon again after it is used up.

6.) When does an engineer get the ability to place turrets?
Turrets are skills.
As you accumulate skill points, your engineer can pick skills.
Just get the appropriate skill you like (Rifle Turret, Healing, Rocket, etc) and you’ll be able to use that turret.

7.) Can an engineer summon a Golem?
Asurans can purchase Elite skills which deploy Golems
Summon 7-Series Golem (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Summon_7-Series_Golem)
and
Summon D-Series Golem (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Summon_D-Series_Golem)

3) Dodging is the only active way to dodge attacks at the beginning of the game. For some specific classes there are weapon skills and utility skills that will allow you to evade attacks more often than the two dodges you get normally.

1.) Can you change the voice of your character?
- No

2.) How do you get rid of a bag? I’m trying to drop leather bags for purple (atm).
- Right click it and select Delete from the drop down menu

3.) Is “evading” the only way to dodge attacks?
- For the most part. Standing behind things works too.

4.) Are skins only bound to the character you using at the time you use it? Or can it be taken off and used for a different character?
- Account bound items can. Soulbound items cannot.

5.) Can you give items to another character on your account?
- Yes, if the item is account bound or does not specify. Put it in your bank and open the bank on your other character (Think “Diablo” stash)

5.5) Is there a bank or storage place?
- Yes, in every major city.

6.) When does an engineer get the ability to place turrets?
- Level 10

7.) Can an engineer summon a Golem?
- Yes, but only if the engineer is an Asura. Otherwise, Asura characters of any class can produce golems via their elite skill that is obtained around level 30 or so.

8.) Does it matter what class I pick when I choose a race? Like If I were to make a Charr Necromancer or an Asura warrior?
- Stats-wise, no. Its all about appearance. Charr and Asura “distort” the armor a bit, so do a google image search of the race/class combination you are interested in first

9.) I bought the the Deluxe edition of this game, what does that mini “pet” Charr that fallows me around do? Looks pretty decked out, but doesn’t attack.
- It does just that. Looks pretty and has no functionality.

10.) (I can probably find the answer to this one on wiki, but I wanted to make it to 10 questions.) What’s the rarity of items in this game? Color or name. Like the skin that came with the Deluxe that I chose says “rare” and the color of the name is Yellow.
- Purple = Legendary (other than crafting materials, you’ll never get an item in-game at this rarity)
- Pink = Ascended (mostly crafted and super rarely drops)
- Orange = Exotic (most common high quality armor)(rare drop, but available from the trading post and various vendors)
- Yellow = Rare (drops on every champion level boss and is pretty useless due to Exotics being fairly available)
- Green = Masterwork (drops like rain everywhere. Get used to breaking down alot of items of this color)
- Blue = Better than white, but same as green

To elaborate on the dodging, with some attacks you can ‘dodge’ them simply by moving your character out of the way. There are certain attacks that will track your movement to hit you and require an actual dodge-roll, but others can be faked out. Using a common enemy as an example, a spider, both their normal attacks and their poison spit have slow windups, so if you move around behind the spider while it’s preparing its attack, the attack will whiff harmlessly at the spot you’re no longer at. Enemies like wolves have quicker attacks that you can’t get out of the way, while humanoid enemies that use a chain of sword attacks will actually turn to face you as you move around them so their attacks will still hit you.

Ranged attacks operate similarly. Some ranged attacks will home in on you, while others can be avoided simply by varying your movement back and forth, something that’s more effective at a longer distance. It’ll just take trial and error to learn which creatures have what attacks. And which player characters have what attacks, too, when it comes to PvP!

Hello all! Sorry if this isn’t where I’m suppose to post it or if these questions have been asked before.

1.) Can you change the voice of your character? No, you get the voice actor for your race/gender.

2.) How do you get rid of a bag? I’m trying to drop leather bags for purple (atm). Drag the new bag on top of the old one’s tab. So long as it is at least the same size as the old one, it will simply swap with all items still in the same order inside. You can then delete the old smaller one by dragging it outside your inventory panel; later, if the old one is tradeable, you can sell it on the TP or hand it to an alt via your bank.

3.) Is “evading” the only way to dodge attacks? You can actively dodge, or some weapon skills (like Mesmer main hand sword 2) will act as an evade while they are active, and would count as a dodge. You can also block an attack, e.g. by Guardian’s Aegis.

4.) Are skins only bound to the character you using at the time you use it? Or can it be taken off and used for a different character? Skins are account wide once unlocked. If you get an item that is just a skin, such as a fuzzy quaggan hat, you get one free application to an armor piece on one alt by using the skin item. Thereafter you can apply it infinitely to any hat on any alt (so long as armor weight restrictions are met), for the price of one transmutation charge per reskin. Charges can be bought, but even whales like me are more likely to earn them in game via map completion.

5.) Can you give items to another character on your account? Your bank is account wide. Even soul bound items can go in it, but only the alt to which it is bound can remove the item, and there is no tool tip telling you which alt owns it.

5.5) Is there a bank or storage place? Yes. Every major city has one, and some lesser ones as well. Look for the bag icon on your map. Also any crafting station anywhere has a tab for full bank access.

6.) When does an engineer get the ability to place turrets? I don’t know. I leveled my only Engineer before the changes to the New Player Experience came in.

7.) Can an engineer summon a Golem? I do not think it is an Engineer skill, but any Asura can do it via racial traits, so an Asura Engineer could …

8.) Does it matter what class I pick when I choose a race? Like If I were to make a Charr Necromancer or an Asura warrior? Only for some lore reasons. ANet has worked hard to make sure there is no “best race” to play; all the profession abilities are the same across all races. If you RP, then being a Charr magic user might include some backstory of being sneered at. Asura make fine warriors, they have a Peacekeeper “police” force.

9.) I bought the the Deluxe edition of this game, what does that mini “pet” Charr that fallows me around do? Looks pretty decked out, but doesn’t attack. He’s Rytlock, the best known Charr NPC. Minis don’t “do” anything, they just follow you. They are purely cosmetic. Some have fun animations or make little sounds, but they are not a combat aid.

10.) (I can probably find the answer to this one on wiki, but I wanted to make it to 10 questions.) What’s the rarity of items in this game? Color or name. Like the skin that came with the Deluxe that I chose says “rare” and the color of the name is Yellow. *
Grey – trash, vendor junk. You have an option at most vendors to Sell All Junk, use it to save a lot of clicking. If for some reason you are keeping a grey item for sentimental or RP reasons, keep it in an Invisible Bag to protect it from auto-sale.
White – common.
Blue – not sure of the term. Slightly better.
Green – Masterwork. Extremely cheap on the TP to get gear of this color, and it will cover most of your leveling needs.
Yellow – Rare. Pretty decent gear, still cheap on the TP once you have funds but you will level too fast to want to pay for yellows before you are 80. Just use drops you can, sell the others.
Orange – Exotic. Easily attainable, has become quite cheap on the TP for what you get, and most anyone can stop at level 80 exotics and play the game just fine.
Pink – Ascended. Armor and weapons must be crafted by skill level 500 or gained by quite rare box drops; jewelery is relatively easily attainable via Fractals or spending laurels at a vendor. I think you get about a 10% stat boost over exotics. It takes a long time to craft or a lot of gold, or both, depending on your mats stockpile. Please don’t feel obligated to deck yourself in Ascended. Any PuG group in a dungeon that sneers at you for not being utter “BiS” is likely not going to be fun people for you anyhoo.

3. No, there are many others. For one not being in enemy’s attack zone (like walk/run away from it if wind up is slow or get behind it). You can also blind it and it’ll miss it’s next hit for sure (unless it’s a boss). You can also block attacks or use skills with build in evade (that depends on a skill and profession you have).

4. Skins and gear are two different things. Gear can be soulbound and not shared with anyone else if that’s the case. Skin (it’s look) however will be unlocked in account warderobe and you can apply that look to any other item on any other character as long as the item is of same type (spear look into another spear, heavy chestplace into another heavy chestplace). You need transmutation stones to do that. You get them sometimes from daily achievements, map completions, and mostly black lion chest (their rl money income source).

5.5 your bank (storage) is also accessible from any crafting station.

7. if you’re not an asura there is still a way – gather runes of geomancy from Crucible of Eternity dungeon and you’ll be able to randomly summon a golem on hit (with certai cooldown). But that’s something you should try after you get some experience under your belt.

Welcome to Tyria.

You can access your Wardrobe by pressing ‘H’, you need not visit a bank for that.

You will only see Bank Icons in the Cities for the most part. Map Icons are unlocked at Level 15, so you should be able to see them once in a City of your choice.

This page may be helpful: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards
You can use the links to further expand your information gathering.

Remember to click on the information choices given at each Level Up reward window. A tool-tip will appear with basic information.

You can also access the Wiki in-game by typing in chat /wiki (topic of choice). For example: /wiki turrets

Good luck.

There like a, armor sets I should be on the look out for leveling up wise? Like in another game there were 3 sets of armor in the starting towns. Basically those 3 armor sets were from 1-10,10-20, and 20-30 or something along those lines, then go into higher towns for better sets, but then there are chances better pieces of those sets drop from enemies where the town is at. So, this game have something like that?

The bank will be in all cities. As an Asura, your home city is Rata Sum, located southwest of Metrica Province. The bank is on the second level of the city, down the ramp from the Asura Gates leading to Metrica and Lion’s Arch. You can also access the bank via any crafting station. Metrica Province has crafting stations at Desider Atum, the base roughly halfway across the zone on the east side. Just access a crafting station and tab down to see your bank.

As for turrets, you should be able to buy utility skills to fill out slots 7 and 8 by now (and possibly 9). Open your Hero panel, go to Skills and Traits, and pick Slot Skills. You can invest your Skill Points there to purchase skills, which include turrets. After buying a skill, assign it to one of your open skill slots, and then you’ll be able to make use of it at your leisure!

You can’t sell this item. It has only cosmetic purpose. It unlocks unique skin in your wardrobe that you can use any time after, but it’s soulbound so you will most likely destroy it when you will get a better back item in the future.

Another question! The starting item I began with “Multi-tool backpack”, should I be holding onto that, or sell it or…?

You can’t sell this item. It has only cosmetic purpose. It unlocks unique skin in your wardrobe that you can use any time after, but it’s soulbound so you will most likely destroy it when you will get a better back item in the future.

As dirty says, the skin is unlocked in your wardrobe. If you destroy the item the skin will still be in your wardrobe for future use.

To use skins you need Transmutation charges which you can get as a reward from completely exploring a “home” city like Rata Sum (home city = a racial city) or Lions Arch. Other ways to get charges are:

-Map completing any zone (50% chance)
-Daily Achievements (~5% chance)
-PvP Rank Up chests (100% chance)
-PvP Reward Tracks (1 per tier)
-Black Lion Chests (Low chance)

Or you can purchase them from the game store.

Changing the color of your armor (Dye) is free – from a tab in your Hero panel like the Wardrobe. It pops up the Transmutation window but it says zero. You start with a small number of colors but you can get additional dies from the Auction House (called Trading Post / TP) which is near the bank. Or sometimes you’ll get an “Unidentified Dye” as a reward or drop.

You can access the Trading Post anywhere in the world to sell items from your inventory (very nice instead of having to delete things like in other games). Just right-click on the item and pick Sell at Trading Post. You can also browse the TP and buy items (there is a TP icon in the upper left of your screen) but you can’t get the item without visiting a TP. Besides the major cities there are sometimes TP in other locations.

Other tips:

Buy the crude salvage kits from the karma vendors, will save you coin.

Salvage everything leveling for the raw mars, when you get to tier 3-4 mats, good money there, or save for max crafting.

If its a white item that says salvagable, salvage! Don’t make my first mistake and sell XD.

Don’t just run by events, participate. Events are what drive leveling, not just hearts.

Explore and discover

Gather all the things! (Ie, get an appropriate level Axe/pick/sickle like copper, iron, etc and gather whenever you see on your minimap).

If you get stuck at a level, try crafting. Free XP.

If stuck or lost, ask mapchat. Good chance you’ll get someone helpful
