It is really personal to be honest. But i suggest guardian. It is a heavy armor class and has the heals and dps u asked for =)

Keep in mind this game has no real dedicated healer and in most instances, you don’t really need a dedicated healer. That said, a lot of people do heal. So if you’re a min/maxer type trying to get a speed run group through a dungeon, the healing spec is not really highly regarded.

On the other hand, it works with just about every casual run.

for what you are after a staff guardian would be the best bet.

you will not be a dedicated healer like other mmos. but you will have high support ability’s like condition cleansing some limited group heals and other ability’s to greatly assist the group. you can also swap to a secondary weapon to compliment the staff.

its also very nice to have in WvWvW when playing with a large group as u can assist the group and be a very helpful asset, also if u do fractal runs its also very nice to. the only aspect you wont be helpful on is dungeons where ppl want to speed run.

just say you are a “support guard” when looking for groups. ppl will inv u very quickly anyway so don’t worry about not being able to find groups.

Desolation EU
Fractal lvl 80 – 126 AR

For starting out, I’d actually recommend a ranger rather than a guardian. They do decent damage both ranged and melee and have a good amount of survival skills that make exploration as well as learning this game’s combat system easy. One of their healing skills drops an AoE healing (and condition removal) field, which comes in handy in many situations.

Guardian and Warrior has always been considered the best newbie classes. They are usefull for everything and can support their group. Its hard to do wrong. On the other end of the spectrum you got Mesmers and Engineers. They not bad, but require a little more thought and you can easily bork builds. The others are somewhere in between.

My personal favorites are Guardian, Necromancer and Mesmer.

Many will probably recommend ranger, but I dont think people should give into the cuddly pet thing. Rangers are never really needed in WvW. Its such a generic class. Cant recommend it if you want to feel like you are doing something for your team.2
