New players coming in, community please
Legendary SoloQ
I agree on this, I just met a person who just started the game and he was met with hostility in the Queensdale train for asking a simple question. No need to be hostile, I’m happy to see new blood!

It’s a great idea. The issue, though, is that it isn’t likely to change.
Whereas I go out of my way to be nice to new players, teach them new things, help them out when they’re in trouble, etc…not everyone does.
Especially the champion trains. The players doing the train think they own the champions. I’ve seen them be pretty venomous to people when all they really had to do was shrug their shoulders and move on.
The community in this game has really started to go downhill the last few months. It’s really sad.
I don’t see much of this in the champ trains anymore, but when I do I just tell people how to block and report.
I also suggest getting out of Queensdale. Why not offer to party with the newbie and show them around another zone? Or maybe help them with the personal story or something?
I personally love newbies and find them adorable.
I think players can report them for Verbal Abuse at that point. Perhaps it would reduce the # of toxic players from being toxic.
agreed,welcome newbies,weve all been there
I will most likely be on on the 25th, I plan to be in Queensdale, where most new players will be starting out, on TC. I plan to periodically ask if any new players need advice and to provide it where possible. I might even run a few levelling parties for those new guys.
I think the Queensdale champ train is damaging to the game in terms of new players.
They can do Orr. They can do Frostgorge. Instead they want the easy way by doing a tutorial zone without having to think for themselves. And when someone new comes along playing the game as intended, people jump down their throats.
Now, that’s incredibly off-putting and a terrible first impression for new gamers. I wouldn’t be surprised if the champ train in Queensdale gets destroyed by increasing the times for them to spawn by a lot.
Where are you all finding these New Players? I haven’t seen once since August.
There would be a lot more new players if this game had some sort of free trial system like free to level 20 or something.

I have to agree with this. There have been many times where an exploring group or player found a champion and decided to take it on…only to have someone call them out or verbally abuse them for breaking the precious train.
If I was a new player and this happened to me, it wouldn’t leave me with a very good impression.

That’s why the queensdale train must die!
Hey, I’m pretty new to the game. May I ask what is a champion train? I notice a lot of people running around together in queensdale, I’m assuming this is the train your talking about? In any case, should I help them kill monsters while they are around?

Omg that picture makes me love newbies. YAY <3

To be fair, you wouldn’t really be helping them (there is usually enough people to take down the champions without much of a challenge). But, if you want to do it for your own amusement, then you should join for a while and travel with them. I wouldn’t get too caught up in it, though. There are much better things to do in the game.

A train is just a group of people farming champions in a set order for loot. You can join in anytime since the train is made up of randoms anyways.

well i kinda agree that queensdale champs farming is stupid and harmful for the game, and not so rewarding moreover.
cannot say the same for frostgorge i’m perfectly fine with that.
as for dungeon a new player shjould say hey guys i’m new , i will be messing, don’t rage and watch the chat at least lol.
been caouple of time in cof with a guy that really had no intention to stay inside braziers and was obviously not reading chat lol, after the 10th fail we had to kick.. ya know..
Whenever I see a newbie killing a champ in Queensdale out of rotation, I actually join them. It’s fun.

The mass of gold sellers would skyrocket to the roof.
I kinda like helping new players too but lately there have been a lot rude people who didn’t even feel like saying “thank you” after explaining them things about the game. Most of the time they don’t even want to know the mechanics of they game, they just want to know how the champ rotation works or how to make lots of money very fast.
New players in dungeons also tend to not write anything at all. If they mess up and you ask them if they have never done that path before they won’t respond most of the time.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.

Watching the drama unfold after doing this is fun.
TO ALL NEW PLAYERS PLEASE READ
Roll a Warrior and go for full Berserker gear. You will very much enjoy in both dungeons and PVE stuff. You do not read any other class than warrior trust me.

No, sorry. Make up your own mind on what is fun. Warrior is the default class that every game has, but it is not anywhere near the ‘best’, or for that matter what many find fun.
I always try to help new players whenever I encounter them… I do seem to be in the minority, though.
First and foremost its Anets decision to not act about the queensdale train and the potentially bad impact it has for new players there.
And about those toxic dungeon people, well….you’ll find them in every multiplayer game I’m afraid.
Personally I don’t take part in any of these trains and their mentality to “own” the champs and actually I prefer being in a group with some newbies in it than with those wannabe elite folks.

I expect an influx of new players who found a pretty white box under their Christmas tree in a few days. We should all be welcoming and helpful to them, because we’ll need all the help we can get. One day the remaining Elder Dragons are going to get tired of watching that mad salad run around and remind Tyria of who the real world-ending menace is.

People, this is post for all you experienced players out there, I have seen a trend lately o bash new players in both dungeon and champion farming at queensdale. As many of you know, 40% game price discount happened and thus we have a great influx of new players. Because of this, new players and trying out dungeons and open world, and I have noticed very toxic behavior from some of us veteran fellows.
If a new player joins the dungeon party; kindly explain some of the most important parts, why it is necessary that they gear better with sets such as berserker in dungeons, explain why rather than force it, explain important fights or mechanics of the dungeon, give a good impression.
If a new player is lost and attempts to kill a chapion out of rotation, please explain him the reason why people are doing it, guide them, show them around, in a nice way, do not force it.
Im sure that as a community we can give a better impression! These are player that are increasing our populations, lets give them reasons to stay, not to run away!
This is simply a PSA, remember, we want to have more people to run maps and dungeons together, amkes the game more fun! :0 If you got any other suggestion please leave it here and keep it bumped so that we can create awareness!
Don’t blame players for poor game mechanics and developer decisions. In this case, the low level zones should not be designed to encourage champ train zerg farming, and all dungeons should be made soloable. a bunch of low level dungeons should be introduced as well so players can get the feel for them.

I would like to add to this, roll warrior as a 2nd character instead, use a non warrior/non guardian as your main character. The reason is that you will develop better playing skills so that when u use a warrior,u will be even better at it.
Warrior is easy to use because the superior profession carries the player.
Non warrior profession requires player’s skill to carry the class.
I don’t want to sound mean, but i have never seen on an EU server, players being mean at champ trains etc. Most of the players will party you and show you the route.
In Underworld i am on daily inviting NEW players in my Guild and i encourage them to ask me anything and to ask for help anytime.
“We are now! We are forever!”

Just make it so free trial players can’t send or receive mail, have a very low money cap, can’t use map chat, join guilds.

I agree. I think it is terrible that players think they can set their own rules for other players. There is no rule in the game saying that you have to kill the Queensdale champions in a certain order. Shame on any player who yells at another for not following the stupid champion train. I hope the champ train gets destroyed soon so players don’t fear to enjoy the game how they want to.
