So I should’ve bought this game ages ago, being a huge fan of the first guild wars, mostly the pvp obviously. I’m downloading the game client now and wondering, is it going to be pretty much just me wandering around till end game or are the earlier zones still kind of sort of populated?

Depends on the server…. It’s a very touch and go thing. On some servers you can run into a few people on most maps. On other servers, its like you have it all to yourself. Pvp is very limited in GW2 (for now) as well. From my understanding we are expecting new modes (soonish? I think).

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

The Human Starting zone have a lot of people in it. Because of champion train that a lot of people use to get gold and level up their alts. But even if there is a lot of people in that zone, this maybe not the best place to go when you start the game. These people are protective of their run and you could do a event and kill a boss that is part of it, making people angry. Also you could join the train, but its so boring and really don’t help you getting better at the game. You will see less people in the other starting zones, but there is still people.

I couldn’t even claim the QD Train on AR as an example right now. I think the train consisted of like 8 people last night when I there during ‘prime time.’ Was kind of nice.

I suggest you inform yourself wich servers in your time zone are the most populated and choose the one that has the most players in category you want to play (WvW, PvE, sPVP)

Other than that, the servers are far from empty.

Whatever you do, please do not participate in the Queensdale champ train. You’ll get sucked in and think ‘this is all there is in GW2?’
