Hi everyone, as the title suggests I’m new to the game. I rolled a character but completely missed the part where you’re able to edit hairstyle / haircolour. I only noticed this when I created my second char.

Is there a way to change her hair now, after character creation?
(For those of you familiar with World of Warcraft there’s a “barbershop” where you can do this, I guess I’m asking if there’s a similar thing in GW2.)

I know, I know, it’s not the most important thing but she happened to end up with dreadlocks and since she’s a Norn it just…does not fit in.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yes, but it’s a gemstore purchase most of the time. You can get a free one after 5,000 achievement points – that took me around a year of playing to get so it’s not exactly a short-term goal.

Oh wow… gulp I suppose I’ll be stuck in a “bad hairday” with her for the time being, then.

Thanks for your swift reply, Ben!

You can convert your in-game gold to buy the hairstyle kit from the gemstore for 250 gems.

Not sure about the current conversion rate but it should land between 10-12 gold.

You could also get lucky with your lvl 10 (personal story level) reward of a black lion key. The chests very rarely drop the appearance make-over kit.

Back when I first started I played every class and race to get a feel of what I liked and how they worked. I usually ran them till the mid 20’s or past the personal story then moved on. I was learning the game and it wasn’t like I was completely locked in or vested in the characters I was experimenting with. It’s not like I spent hours on hours with them and I didn’t soulbind any super special rare skins and equipment to them so there was nothing lost.

Let this be a test character for you. Give the class and racial story a try and go ahead and delete and start over with proper hair. It’s a decent way to get comfortable with how the game runs and you won’t have to go through the hassle of trying to obtain a hair change kit in the gem store.

Also, if you have decided that this character is your main, then pony up the gems for the kit. You can buy them with in-game gold, or if you prefer, whip out the credit card. Either way, they are easy to get, just depends on whether or not you buy them. THey also have complete makeover kits and name change contracts if you decide to completely redo a beloved character without losing everything.

You can sometimes get them from Black Lion Chests (again requiring you to get BL keys though – either from doing your personal story or by purchases from gem store) or even from those achievement chests (but I think you need 5K APs and as a new player you will probably not have that just yet…)

Hi!

I sent you an ingame mail too, but I’ll just repeat myself here a bit. I had something like that happen with my Norn: I totally forgot to give her a tattoo. I still remember all of my characters working to get enough gold to buy her the makeover kit. It felt grat to achive that small goal.

If you want to go hunt for gold, I’d be glad to go with you. Either with this account on EU servers or my other on NA servers.

One advice : If you come straight from World of Warcraft and seek to make a Ranger based on Hunter experience, better delete the Norn and make another one, with another class
Now, seriously. If you’re new to the game, you’ll be just better with deleting your current character (unless it’s 80 and fully geared at least with exotics) and making a new one. Leveling in this game is fairly quick and very easy. Otherwise, you have to spend some real money and buy one-time barber item (+ is, you will have more hair options in this case) or at 80 level, farm around 20 gold.

If I were you OP, I would just delete and start over since your character probably only has a few levels anyway. You might run your character thru your personal story til you get the key for a black lion chest as a reward. You don’t have to level up to do it. I recommend you have a ranged weapon for the last 2 or 3 steps as the mobs can be several levels above you by then.

Either delete the character and start over, grind gold or waste real life money (on a virtual haircut!) for a make-over kit, compliments of the Gem/Ca$$h $$hop.

Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.

One advantage of the hair kit is that it has 3 new hairstyles at the front that you can’t get in creation, along with some new colors (though they tend to be very blue or purple). The new Norn female ones are really nice.
