Next Expansion at Pax South (January 27-29)
As they are not participating, I doubt it

:( That’s a shame. Don’t get me wrong, I love the LW seasons, but a true expansion takes too long to release…
Earliest announcement would be, guessing here, PAX West.
It may be two years for the announcement but the expansion is only 15 months old and we really don’t want another 9 month announcement to release. Six months at most, 3 months better. Extended hype, lack of specifics and lack of content before drop hurt HoT and GW2 IMO.

It’s way too soon to hear about next Xpansion. Please don’t tell us until the xpack has been polished a billions times! I’d rather wait another years b4 i hear any specifics about it.

Too soon? WoW announced their expansion sometimes 12 months after the release of the last expansion. Also, if we talk about a two year expansion schedule – which is fairly normal – we should expect the expansion in no less than 10 months. But as far as I know Anet with their ultra slow content release it will take another year. Sad but true.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
HoT was announced in january 2015 more or less at the same time than last LS2’s episode was released. Considering we’re still in episode 3 and there’s no sign it’ll be the last one, I’m not sure there’ll be any announcement any time soon.
I put some dates in another thread of mine. ANet is indeed ultra slow.
While I still love the game as is, I’ve set the bar pretty low of anets schedules and ability to actually deliver stuff. That way, if they make something, its all okay, and if it turns out good, I’ll be pleasently surprised. But i’m well over the fact that we’ll never see GW1 quality, or LS1 quantity again
I used to love this game, but having nothing to do is really boring. I am taking breaks from the game here and then and I am barely playing it atm.
Been here since BETA, I got 70 characters, leveled up all elite specs except Herald, doing all stories, got worldmap and etc. etc..
Anet is indeed really slow!!! It takes years for them to actually create something and whatever that may be, it would prob only be 2 hours playtime or less.
I kinda regret of playing GW1 and GW2 instead of WoW actually.
GW2 overrall seems dead to me.
I miss GW1, atleast there was an actual and good storylines and campaigns there!
GW2 released 2012 and today it’s 2017, that’s 5 years and what do we have?
Yes we do have the Living Story but that’s so slow in progress.
One Expansion pack, which was really disappointed.
Come on Anet!!!!! Make this game great again!
While I think an expansion in fall 2017 would be OK, I don’t want a long hype train like we had last time.
Do I need a new expansion already? If Anet rolls out LS maps and the long promised WvW overhaul, I don’t think so. I could go through many alt characters with the LS chapter + HoT maps (if I would be interested).
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)

I wouldn’t expect to hear anything until near the end of this year or beginning of next year.
I mean it’s probably going to be soon.
As things stand, we’ve spent more time waiting between patches for new content than we have when we waited for HoT’s release.
Announcing the next expansion before they finish delivering the content for the current … sounds like a great idea! I am sure everyone one will agree that is the proper course of action.

One could reasonably argue that HoT hasn’t been out for 12 months since all of the content that was promised with it is still not delivered. Similarly, since the April 2016 patch was focused almost entirely on just fixing problems with HoT, one could also easily argue that HoT didn’t finish being released until April 2016. Both of those arguments lead one to conclude that HoT hasn’t been “out” for 12 months yet
There was an announcement a while back the Anet had a small team working on the new exspantion, not sure where this was but I’m positive it was official
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Unless they can update the engine to work better with modern hardware, I’m not too enthralled by any such prospects.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Small? Try 70 people. It was in the AMA from around the time Colin left and possibly on these forums in the foo fah rah surrounding the legendary stoppage.

Considering they had everyone working on HoT at the expense of all other content that is a pretty small team

I’m sure the number fluctuates as there may be people that float between projects.
Depending on the number of LS teams (I’d say 3 based on that production cycle), those teams could then move to the expansion when there’s no more planned episodes prior to the expansion. If nine episodes are planned, each team would move towards working on the expansion after completing their 3rd episode.
