Before I could transmute it onto the new pair of pants I have, but now my 6th rune of the traveler is on a pair of britches I got w/ badges in WvW… :o( And even a trusty old Black Lion salvage kit can’t get to it.

That’s right. Britches.

That’s what the Upgrade Extractor was made for. Literally.

Though, it would probably be cheaper to just take the gems you would use to buy the upgrade extractor, convert them into gold, and then buy a new Rune of the Traveler.

I think even when buying them in the 25 pack, the upgrade extractors would still cost 26 gold per use.

So it’s twice as expensive as the most expensive rune in the game at the moment (rune of the strenght: 13 gold).

My biggest concern are upgrades in legendary weapons… you can change the stats on the legendary but not the upgrade without paying alot of gold.

As stated many, many times in similar threads, the game needs an in-game economy method to remove upgrade components without destroying the upgraded item. It should cost game currency, laurels, gold, ecto, whatever. Karma gear should have runes removed period. This will alleviate any issues with karma-gold flipping.

Just buy another rune. The extractor is not worth it. Trust someone who wasted the gems once to use the extractor. At this point I just re-buy. Yes, it sucks, but since ANet is gouging on price, what else can you do?

Sorry to hear OP. Yes, I have 2 full sets of WvW gear with Travelers runes before finding out we couldn’t break it down too. Nothing we can really do but buy more runes at this point. I try to give constructive criticism for most things but, that upgrade extractor price deserves nothing nice to be said about it. It’s really that much of a rip off.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I’m not even bothering with Legendaries. I’d never put a really good upgrade item in them. Now, if sigils and runes were made swappable, then we’d all be very happy.

Buy a Traveler Rune and “move” on….

Gems will need to go below 4g to buy 100 gems before it’s worth it to buy an upgrade extractor to recover a superior rune of the traveler (that’s at bulk pricing).
the last time that was the cast was sep, 2013 (14 months ago).
as it is, you can buy 3.5 superior runes of the traveler for the same price as 1 upgrade extractor.

i still have a full PVT WvW gear with superiour runes of the strenght in my bank.

I bought it for my main thief to do tequatl when they made him harder. Was about 50s per rune.

But i dont rly need this gear anymore and PVT is not rly good for a thief anywhere else xD
