Q:

Not sure if this is posted elsewhere but I have an arachnophobia bow with that night time sigil thats gives 10% bonus dmg at night and I have no idea how to tell when its active or how its affected while I’m in instances and dungeons so if anyone or even an anet employee if I could be so lucky please clear this up for me?

I also have a ghostly harpoon from ascolonian catacombs dungeon which apparently has its glow affected by the day night cycle which I previously thought was just randomly glowing when it felt like it.

As it is, I think it’s one hour, twenty mins of day and forty mins of night.

In some ways it would probably be better if the day/night cycle stuck to real time.

Such a small day/night cycle must mean the planet spins awfully quickly.

Yeah but it seems theres nothing that can tell you whether its day or night at the time. It would be a lot better if it was real time according to the server clock. If thats true 40 mins of night kinda sucks for night weapon weilding players….

You want real-time day/night cycle? What if you only played from noon till afternoon and never in the evening(or at night)? Then you would never see the night time in the game.

Well atleast you would know where you stand instead of he current system making it hard to even tell if there was a night. You could concentrate your efforts on day time bonuses instead of night.

Right now the only time I can tell if its day or night is by checking for the stars in the sky. Make the night seem a little more distinct and I’d be happy. Mute or tone down the maximum view distance, give some mobs a night time graphic; such as a glowing eyes for the risen and glowing cat eyes on some of the other mobs. Make windows in building glow and adding street lights or torches in towns would be nice.

If you want a longer cycle make sure its not as long as a 12 hour night/day cycle. Shorten it to 10 or few hours so players that can only play at certain times aren’t ‘left in the dark’ so to speak.

Day and Night time should have equal lengths imo. It doesnt make sense for them to be different. Some places are very beautiful at night.

I believe th current cycle is 2 hours. 80 minutes day, 40 minutes night.

The Sylvari glow effect, glowey at night and not during the day. Very handy.
