Night and the Enemy is Annoying
Time stand still for no one. The quest chains go faster with more people, but they aren’t supposed to always succeed. It realistically acts like it should. If you don’t gather enough resources b4 nightfall, you won’t be well prepared.
What’s really annoying is the walk back from the Waypoint from a few of these chains. Part 5/6 of the Pale Reaver line in particular, as the ruins have a ton of Mordrem Guard hanging around in there making it difficult to run back in alone.

I agree. This is similar to other pre-HoT zones and events. Over time, the community will get more organized and you’ll see more successes and fewer failures.
So I’m in verdant Brink, doing outpost quest chains and repeatedly I get about half way through all of the event chains to complete the outpost and then out of Nowhere (there dosent seem to be a way to tell when its coming) 5 min till nightfall message appears.
5 min later entire outpost quest chain fails and resets and I have to wait through 45 min of nightfall to start all over again on them. Really great design there.
So you just don’t know how the event chain works then.
Night and the enemy is a major HoT theme. Mordremoth and “his?” forces are stronger at night. Like rl plants, (and the Vietnam War. I’m convinced that one of the anet devs is a ‘nam vet. The parallels are striking. ) Mordremoth’s minions have a diurnal cycle.
I don’t see this changing.
The only complaint I have is that night takes too long without having as much of quest chains as day has, thus it becomes a chore easily.
Helped organize a map that almost got to t3 night defense, we also capped out all the outposts during the day. ITs very much doable :P
The thing about these events is that no matter how long, short, easy or difficult the task is, they pretty much all pay you the same amount of XP. During the day, you’re running around doing chores that usually scale into long events in more populated maps. This pay turns out to be pretty terrible. You can join boss zergs at night but I would only do it for the first time rewards. Night pays you way better than daytime, if you do it right.
1) Find a minor camp that comes under attack. Defend it by killing a few guys, but let them take it. Upon failing, you will get paid.
2) Kill the enemies that stick around. In a few minutes, you’ll be charged with recapturing the camp. You’ll get paid for this too.
3) Defend your newly recaptured camp, you’ll get paid again.
4) Check your minimap (make sure you zoom out at least once and turn off Personal Story) for nearby events. These will be Salvage operations or Pact soldiers bringing supplies to your camp. If you leave 1-2 Tendrils alive while salvaging, you can run supplies to your camp for more XP. Bring your own Pact supplies while you escort soldiers to get two things done in one trip.
5) Your camp will periodically come under attack, keep defending it.
6) Run supplies whenever you’re not doing anything important, it all adds up. You can hold down ctrl to see these from farther than the game shows you by default.
These activities will happen repeatedly all night and pay up. Make sure you have any and all applicable XP boosts possible, they make a difference in the long run.
EDIT: Don’t forget to do your daily Adventures, even if you only get Bronze/Silver. The point is to get your XP efficiently, and most of these are easily completed in 3 minutes or less.

Well you are not wrong lol but for the moment, the novelty of the new maps hasnt worn out for me and I actually prefer to make events succeed. Im not interested in grinding exp and would rather focus on experiencing each event chain at least once fully.
That being said, OP’s complaint is pretty much a non issue. Ive duo’d almost entire event chains and completed them well before the end of day. The only exception being the group event bosses at the end.
I might also add that these outpost quest chains are achievements, and you must complete every step in the quest chain to unlock it. So every time it resets is another time you have to do the outpost quest chain again. (and hope you show up at the right time/hope nightfall doesn’t come and reset it again).
