No Karma gear from Orr now.
All the maps are desolate. kitten, the new map that was just opened emptied in under four hours.
The game’s dying.
I only found a few events in the new land …
1, Collect golem parts (And die to a burrowing sand worm many times) hehe
2, Collect the Crab monster eggs so some woman can make an Omelette
What others are there ? Any good to farm ? (still 150k away from my Karma Armour set)
There are tons of events happening all around the Lost Shores. Frankly it’s an amazing zone with tons of fun stuff to do. The only downside is the Exotic gear from Karma is designed around people being in Orr…which they aren’t.
They won’t be heading back any time soon either since two or three months of farming Risen has gotten insanely boring. They need to put the Karma gear on vendors that are available regardless of Orr’s DE’s.
No one doing dragon fights.
No one doing old dungeons.
No one doing events in Orr zones.
People asking for 80s in full exotics for Fractal runs.
All that damage in so little time.
Well this is what you get once you start catering to the WoW babies.
I guess its time for a server merge. Which wouldnt be a bad thing considering sharding the servers into worlds was a stupid idea to begin with anyway.

Except half the worlds are already full; the disparity is where the server’s population ends up. If you merge servers rather than making fringe areas busier, you’ll just end up forcing the few populous areas into overflow more frequently.
There needs to be more reward for spreading out and exploring the world. karma equality on events, loot scaling based on player, and downscaling being a bit more vicious on players in exotics would all help.

Two things have depopulated Orr:
– The weekend event. This is temporary.
– FOTM. This is permanent.
To tell the effects apart, we need a comparison. How deserted was Orr during Halloween ?
Yeah, I wish they could place the Exotic Karma gear NPCs somewhere else, I have enough karma for two pieces but getting there? Well…. good luck. :L

Orr still had hundreds farming Plinx.
Orr now has no one.
Orr still had people because you could get candy corn, bags and such from Orr mobs and nodes. The crafting items were still useful and such, so was the karma and everything else.
Currently, you can only get the new crafting material in the new area, and the new gear (while marginally better) can only be obtained from the dungeon (though you can craft the backpiece in the mystic forge so not all hope is lost… I guess). This means that if you want to “complete” your character, or have the competitive edge (in WvWvW), you need to be in the new area as the old areas don’t really have any benefits (other than farming for gold, maybe).

Stupid generalization is stupid….it has nothing to do with “WoW babies” at all…it has everything to do with developers who have been out of the loop for to long, have no idea how to implement end game while catering to casual players at the same time, which by the way is happening in other games as we speak….it has everything to do with forcing through untested, unasked for game changing mechanics which simply do not work…it has everything to do with not asking your player base what they actually want.
Players simply stated they wanted something to do once they reached level cap, which is fair enough…..Anets response was just….bad.
What is the big deal? Need a temple unlocked.. get your guild to help you.
We did the ‘dreaded’ balthazar temple the other night for 1 guildies needs.. we just blitzed it down and then all went about our business once it was done.
The events weren’t even fun with tons of people doing it at once, give it a couple of days and people will come back and do things.. it’s not like those vendors are going to disappear anytime soon as well
guess plinx will need to escort himself?
i find it odd that people find this surprising. maybe Anet just needs to make doing Orr stuff a little more appealing? other than that, give it some time for the hype to die down.
What did you expect? They just released higher level gear pieces (Rings and Back I think) any ways, higher level gear – with better stats than exotics = don’t expect anyone to be around for a while as they are all in a rush to get these new items first so they think they can have a “gear advantage” over everyone else. LOL
Thing I most bummed about is I have an alt that is 1 run away from getting his full CoF set and can’t get the kitten door open due to no one around to help clear the event chain. Nice road block to get players out of content ANet LOL
I do agree orr needs an overhaul.
different mobs besides the ones that pull you back and forth(seems like there is tones of them),respawn times a little longer.
less mobs with stuns, seems like the stuns go on for ages as well.
Two big areas that just have undead is a bit annoying tbh.
Lol, there aren’t even people in the new area anymore.
I hope for their sake everyone is doing fractals….
Orr is almost always dead outside a swarm farming once in awhile.
The new zone is mostly dead as there are not really that many good farming events for groups and the big chest event has not opened yet (I am guessing that is what is coming in the next part).
Fractals are vary busy right now and are likely to stay many peoples main content for awhile as they are fun, don’t need a swarm, and have good rewards.
Even on Ferg Crossing we had temples open this AM, so not a population problem.
Also is anyone really surprised that during a weekend event, almost everyone is doing the event?
this is the aftermath of the locusts.
I skipped the event today to finish up in Orr, and lemme tell ya I have come to truly hate that Orrible place. By the time I reached the Cursed Shore I could not escape the feeling that Orr is at its very core a big old flip of the bird from the devs to the players. I could feel the contempt oozing from every hateful nook and cranny. Or maybe it was just indigestion. Ahem. Anyway, I was somewhat surprised to see that there were quite a few folks there running all the usual events and stuff instead of checking out the new content.
Which I am going to go do right now. Laters!
Orr will get the botters back because they cannot bot the new FoTM dungeon.
Anet will be revamping the rewards in Orr and other zones to make them worth having the grinders there again raising the diffuculty of course. This of course means the casuals will be an unwelcome site and a drain because they always need ressing.
Welcome to the new Grind Wars. And we were exaggerating right? 4 days… 4 days to destroy what took 5 years to make.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.
There should be some encouraging events to re-populate Orr and keep people there.
Make a new dungeon that has mechanics like FoTM, lock it like Arah. Make the new dungeon give good loots so that people would really, really put effort in going there.
It can only be unlocked once all god statues (Grenth, Dwayna, Balthazar, etc…) are not contested.
Fractals killed the other content. Not only that, but apparently Orr drops AND Plinx were ninja nerfed really hard. GG.
You can only farm now if you want to run the fractals till your eyes bleed. Good luck LFG if you are just starting now though. Show any dissent and you get flamed into oblivion. I watched LA turn like a swarm of… well… Locusts on a few people in map chat for just asking for invites.

fine with me. I am staying in wvw anyway. i hated the dungeons.

Exactly. All the whining that they wanted to have “raids” to do with their guilds, but when they finally have a chance to prove themselves in a large sequence of chained events designed for more than 5 people, they whine that no one else is there to do it for them.

Why? The game has a huge world, and Orr isn’t even close to being the most interesting area (especially Cursed Shore, which is the blandest of the three Orr zones).
What the game needs is less “level segmentation”. High-level players tended to spend all their time in Orr not because they enjoyed it, but because it was where they could get the drops and materials they needed for high-level crafting, etc..
Most of them flew past the mid-level areas, which is where some of the most interesting content is, and have little reason to go back (even if they enjoy the content, they’ll feel like they’re “wasting” time there, because they’re getting the “wrong” kind of materials, the heart vendors have nothing they can use, etc.).
Sprinkle some level 80 resource nodes in level 35-75 areas, add a few world bosses with unique drops (ex., doesn’t even have to be gear; could be mini-pets, etc.), and high-level players will spread out more evenly across the game world, which is not only a better use of game assets, but also improves game performance.

All I see is a bunch of QQ
Gate of Madness server has tons of pug groups forming for just about every dungeon except fractals. Overflow server is where you’ll find lots of fractals groups.
No surprise that Orr and dragons are empty at the moment, as the same thing happened during Halloween. I don’t think any sort of elitism is forming from this ascended gear. The only exclusive groups I see are the ones that are going for scaled fractals, but they don’t specify any gear requirements.
Lol, there aren’t even people in the new area anymore.

The new area is boring and pointless. I LOL’d at the person who said there’s ‘tons of new stuff to do in the new area!" No, it’s the same old kitten in a different zone really. Boring DE’s and running back and forth to do the same events to grind out karma in the most efficient manner. It’s a grind, just like Orr, and the mobs there have just as many annoying mechanics as the Orr mobs do. Seriously, I went to that zone 1 time to look around and do the jumping puzzle. I don’t expect I’ll ever go back unless it’s to find an Ori node.

Until all the new PvE gear also makes it into WvW and the power gap starts to show even more.

It will happen sooner, rather than later.
Especially with Ascended gear being needed and build upon for future PvE content.
It has happened in any MMO where gear is a goal as way as a means to the goal.
This has always been a problem with progression. Old zones become obsolete.

It’s the problem with gear progression. Not progression in general.
What killed Orr is that the zones are designed not to be fun. It was desolate earlier this week before the event, too.
But the temples are something an individual can address himself. Get a group and clear them, just like you’d get a group to do anything else in a MMO.

Because Orr’s the topic here. It should be one of the end-game areas. Look at it now, it’s empty. There is no way you could get your Karma Items anymore, save weekends.
All the crying in here yet there are countless overflow servers for both the new area and LA.
People are doing the new content. Sheesh. More people being drama queens.
I swear some people are seriously brain dead or lack a brain in general.
This is what I’ve been reading
“Wow, ArenaNet screwed up royally…they release entirely new dungeons to do AND an entirely new zone so that during the weekend it’s released – no one is doing the old content that has been out for three months!”
