I’ve just noticed that this game doesn’t have any…

Perhaps their engine doesn’t support this technology yet. WoW had them, but they rarelly used them for anything beyond flying airships, since they wheren’t much into platforming. In GW2 the only case where there was a ship involved was in Arah, where you were seing a loading screen before mounting it, so flying might as well have been an Illusion (having the earth moving instead of the ship) that it’s common in games.

Given how GW2 gives a lot of emphasis on platforming, wouldn’t be a lot of fun to have a more dynamic jumping puzzle with moving platform, or a Gigantic boss fight that would have the players climb over it? That would be epic!

I’m expecting moving platforms from you A-net!

…and don’t be toxic!

There is a jumping puzzle where the platforms appear and disappear, its really fun. Not really moving though. There are constant moving rocks in metrica, maybe you can get on some of them?

I believe the airship is actually a moving platform, given that you can be pushed out of the backwall, which in theory shouldnt happen if it was considered stationary.

That’s because there would have to be second to second collision detection calculations for every player on that platform, which in turn means it can be abused to crash a map if enough people bunch op on there. That’s why you only see this in dungeons.

When I’m thinking moving platforms I’m only thinking of Epic possibilities.
Can it be this technically hard to achive this? I don’t want to fight the next elder dragon from another stationary cannon lockated 1km away from him, nether chop down his feet untill he falls.

I can attest to the airships moving in Arah as I’ve watched my Chaos Storm drift off into space.

No. At least not now.
Stationary platforms are hard enough for Norn and Charr characters without having to any confusion. Change/Fix the way the camera is positioned and moving platforms could add new level of fun to puzzles.

You mean a new annoyance to the puzzle…

But those rocks in Caledon Forest, at that one spiral thing, aren’t those moving? (I don’t like those jumping horrors, so I haven’t been on it yet)

I would love to see moving platforms, lifts and other things like that.. Would be nice to see this stuff in anyt new content they bring out. Other mmo have made lifts and moving platforms in the general game world so i dont c why it wouldent be possible.

Other mmo meaning swtor, wow.. cant speak for others

As for camera angles they use the camera to make jump puzzles harder, this might be a lame tactic but it is how ythey do it... One jump puzzle that springs to mind is the crystal caven where u get buffed with near sight making it more difficult or far sight making it more difficult due to hanging vines being in your way etc.. This does make it harder for norns etc but im ok with that... ive done every puzzle ingame on my norn with little or no issues

Tis not what they can do for you
Tis only what you can do for all

While I´d love the idea of moving platform puzzles, I doubt they´d be anything but a cause of frustration in reality. While GW2 does a great job in the world of MMORPG, in the realm of jumpers the movement precision would be abysmal.

I want to believe that A-net learned their lesson till now with some annoying Jumping puzzles like Trolls End, and won’t even make you jump again in such enclossed spaces, or even put more spaces like this.

If they where to make a jumping puzzle with moving platforms, they would probalby take extra care to give enough space to make the jumping puzzle a bit more forgiving and not repeat past mistakes, like jumping on giant gears or something. I don’t expect them to make you jump on moving ropes or something.

Besides… Jumping puzzles are very…. optional!

One in particullar zumping puzzle looks very fake because there is no motion to it.

Isn’t anyone interested in climbing bosses?

Only found one moving object somewhere in Metrica Province that I could reach (one of those cubes that keep going up and down) and I just fell right through it.

I shot the seraph~
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
