They’re kind of trying to make money on this thing. If they let you buy it with gems they might as well not even bother.

Well, it also stated in the FAQ, up until about 2 hours ago, that you needed to have already bought GW2 base game to play HoT – but they changed that and thought no one would notice. FAQ isn’t worth the pixels it appears on.

No it’s based on how many people are changing gold to gems and vice versa.

you can however buy the standard edition and upgrade later with gems to the deluxe editon but not to the ultimate

(the only difference between ultimate and deluxe is 4000 gems)
