No account for daylight savings?
Daily’s always reset at Midnight GMT, just because your time zone changes there clocks it does not effect GMT. So now its at 7pm EST, when we switch our clocks in 6 months it will go back to 8pm EST.

Ugh, 7pm is such a ridiculous time for reset. Ooookay then, thanks
I didn’t get to finish my daily. I usually wrap things up around this time if I’m not done with daily >.> I’m a sad panda…
Interesting. So in a place that doesn’t change their clock, is it still at the same time relative to them?
No, for the period in which America decides it’s a good idea to tamper with time we are off more than we should be with the rest of the world. Hurray!
I always thought 8pm was a ridiculous time to reset. I would prefer they reset at midnight server time, so NA servers could reset based on PST and EU servers could reset on GMT.
EDIT: Also, it’s not just us Americans, though it was an American idea. Most of Europe observes DST, as do parts Latin America and Australia.

We did it for the farmers so they’d be able to work in the daylight – because you know plants and animals only do their thing in the daylight right? lol. It was stupid then and it’s even more stupid now. But now that we all have accurate enough clocks and our jobs don’t really care about the sunlight, daylight savings time is irrelevant today. But since it’s a worldwide thing now it would take a worldwide uprising to get it changed again.

Was this seriously taught as the reason for DST when you went to school?
In reality, the (original) primary purpose was to conserve energy by reducing the usage of artificial lighting. It has nothing to do with agriculture.
DST is one of those things we do even though no one really knows why we do it. It’s perpetuation does have a lot to do with farmers and people that work outside even if that wasn’t the reason it got started, and it’s meant to encourage folks to go out in the evening and do things during the summer(that involve spending money). The cost of a lightbulb for an extra hour at night is negligible. It also ties in with TV schedules, as new seasons start around the same time that DST ends. There’s plenty of big corporations that benefit from DST, and that’s why it exists, sadly. I’m just glad it’s finally over.
It’s actually both. And easily stopped. Many places have given it up.
GW2 is a worldwide game. Region only matters for purchase, it does not matter in any way to play. Because of that, it makes absolutely perfect sense to tie reset to an international standard.
As said, the international standard UTC does not follow DST, so you will have to adjust your time to compensate.
Aside from those two days of the year, you have the exact same time each day to complete a daily before they reset. If you do not procrastinate, you can easily complete them no matter when they reset in your local time.
Do you guys have some secret meeting where you try to find the most absurd things to complain about?
not really absurd, 8pm was never a great time for a reset and now it’s even worse, lol. sort of screws up how I do my dailies
It honestly shouldn’t affect how your dailies get done, but I’m too tired to prove that right now. But FYI, the servers never reset at 8 EST. They did/do reset at 7 EST and 8 EDT. Just saying [S(tandard)/D(aylight)]

Time to learn something.
Spoiler: New Zealand is the cause of DST.
