Maybe they meant that content was only removed, not changed. LOL.
Sure. That’s it, I’m sure that’s what them meant.
Noticed this aswell lol
Just went to check….yup…the npc’s gone. Along with the rest of the merchants at that camp.
But…but….it’s more “fun” this way, just wait you will see….
What does “routine maintenance” even mean in relation to software?
Mechanical machines need routine maintenance, ie oil change.
No such maintenance is needed for software.
So probably “routine maintenance” means “bug fixes”, and Anet doesn’t call it bug fixes because that would equate to acknowledging that there is a kitten-load of bugs to fix.
@helladoom
rubbish
routine maintenance for software would simply imply reseting/restarting the machines, as a machine keeps running, it is bound to slowdown as there are memory that is used, stored but no longer in use.
it happens to my machine, the longer i play a heavy game(ie newest videogame), the slower my machine becomes, particularly when i stop playing that game and try to do something else (slower response time, slower internet windows and tabs, slower office programs work, slower other games launching)
if they had a problem to “admit” bug fixes, they wouldnt have had such a list when they did the major update on the 15th

Doesn’t explain why routine maintenance requires clients do download stuff.
Exactly, i always find it funny when they say no content has been changed and yet im downloading additional files, if the game engine has been changed, then content has been changed, if sound has been changed, then content has been changed, if a minor script or bug fixes or client garbage collection protocol or thread optimization or textures, terrain, weapons, login client or whatever, then content HAS been changed, this is a bit insulting.
They also disabled the more efficient recipes for donations at the forge with this “routine maintenance”.

I think the game engine is not content, changes to that and changes to quest- or AI scripts would be bug fixes or optimization.
Either way when something has been changed it’s peculiar to call it routine maintenance. Apparently it means Anet does not want to tell us what they have changed.
So the limited time event was limited?
Interesting. What do I have here. A screenshot that I just took right now on Dragonbrand server. 8:05 A.M. Wednesday November 21st.
