No expansions?
no expansions, there should be expansion like content with the new living story.
This doesn’t mean there will be new races or classes. and tbh, I can do without new classes, they still can’t balance the ones we have.
Expansions are currently not in development at this time, which means if they did start working on an expansion you would not see it until at least 2016. That is of course, assuming they decide to work on one after Living Story season 2.
They decided to roll out expansion through living world now containing 100% perm content. for better or worse this is what we got.
Expansion will be announced by the end of the year, dont worry.

and will be released one year after the launch in China.
Why would they work on developing an expansion that will retail for $60 when they can release 1 each of unlimited gathering tools and an a set of collection expanders (literally a simple database increment) for about the same price.
Game is really fun, but what about expansions? I mean new profession, new race, new weapons, something like that. I’m afraid that there will be nothing like that until 2015 or even at all, could it be true?
All these things you mentioned could be given in the living story.
Crafting is designed for gear accessibility, not profit.
Whilst I did love the massive amount of content in Guild Wars, I’m really enjoying the Living Story approach to Guild Wars 2 so, for now, I am against expansion packs.

You know what I enjoy? New regions to explore, new skills to experiment with, new classes to learn, new races to experience, and all of it with a high degree of polish. You know what the Living Story hasn’t delivered? None of the above.

If it has not delivered none, then it has delivered some. Lol.
I prefer the Living Story method of content delivery, as well. We shall see what Season Two brings. =)
Personally I don’t like storyline, I play MMORPG because I play with other players, story is like single player game, which I dislike, only my opinion though. But I sure would love new contents, while they could at least balance the professions, warrios and guardians seems to be the best for pve, dungeons, pvp and even wvw, which is kinda unbalanced +my level 30 armor look same as lvl 1, which forces me to eather buy skins or buy items with different stats which is a problem for my build. Combat system, graphics and overall gameplay seems nice and smooth, but unbalanced professions, materials being more expensive than crafted items and lack of new contents makes me disappointed, this game has so much potential, yet anet just don’t want to make new stuff, I would buy expansions if there was new stuff in it, Anet would money, we would get even more interesting game, so why not?

Don’t know about them announcing it so early, as ArenaNet’s communication skills are lacking, but I do believe NCsoft finally gave them the greenlight on an expansion.
I could be wrong in this though.
As far as it not being available until 2016 & Beyond – That would be consistent with normal ArenaNet development speed.
I must comment on the posts saying that all expansion like content will come through Living Story and nothing else.
I think that would be very foolish of ArenaNet to do. Why? Because really only current GW2 players are aware of it when its announced and later released. Why is that bad? Because it does not draw back as many players that have left and/or stopped playing the game. Nor does it draw in new players. That would be a lot of lost profit if they decided to only ever release content via LS.

But won’t.

Living Story in my opinion is BS. It’s " new content" on the cheap. I am looking at older titles… and when they deliver something Like an expansion it EXPANDS How we play… wether it’s new classes, new races, new maps…new skills…or New levels… it is an EXPANSION.
Living story is nowhere near an expansion. They make a Big deal out of How it’s free. of course it’s free, no one would pay for it.
But as someone said. Why put in a LOT of energy and effort to put out an expansion that would sell for $60, when they can put Infinite harvesting tools etc, on the gem store that sell for the same? And all it probably takes is a change to a few lines of code, and a different piece of art?
