Some people blame a.net for implementing grind in the form of legendaries. These people didn’t read the promises correctly. No grind should be forced is what the philosophy is based around. So let’s break this down:

- levelling to 80 is no grind at all, you can do it without repeating any content, nor is any content particularly grindy. As soon as you’re bored of a particular xp generating method there’s always others.
- gearing up at 80 isn’t that difficult. By 80 you should have about 5g or even more if you didn’t spend it all on useless stuff. For 1g you can have full yellow which should get you trough almost all content:
—- Gearing up to orange. Do the 3 explorables of several dungeons and you’ll have at least orange boots, gloves, shoulders and head.
—- By this time you more than likely have plenty of Karma to buy max damage orange weapons.
—- By spending 20g (which you could have by not spending too much) you can upgrade your jewelry to orange
—- Which only leaves chest and boots, which can be done through Karma, gold or tokens depending on what you have left.

This will give you a completely orange geared character without repeating any content and without grinding either gold, karma or dungeons, just by using whatever you have at your disposal.

Yes, a legendary takes time in the form of completion, pvp, dungeons, levelling up crafts and farming gold for the precursor. That shouldn’t be a problem because legendary weapons are entirely optional. They are just as good as the orange weapon you’re wielding after my tips, but they also form the carrot of a stick that will keep you playing. As a casual, getting my legendary is a goal that’ll keep me occupied for quite a while.

Good luck and have fun.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

I don’t think grinding is that bad. It’s better to have a game that allows you to grind for rewards than a game that punishes you for grinding. End-gamers camp for DE in straits of devastation and ended up sleepy while waiting for each interval. Many players rather grind by continously killing mobs (traditional) without staring at the screen 2/3 of the time for event to spawn (gw2).

Remember that mmorpg is a reflection of reality. Human nature is part of it. After people achieve a goal, they will have another goal. An endless cycle. Therefore, grinding is inevitable. There will always be grind. People find satisfactory happiness from efforts.

" By this time you more than likely have plenty of Karma to buy max damage orange weapons."

IDK how is it now, but half a month ago there were no max-stat weapons that you could buy with karma.

Also: "scended armors are “slightly more powerful than exotics” and can, in some cases, hold slots for infusions. Infusions will allow you to increase your character’s power."

So yea there’s possibility that grind is coming to get ya anyway.

I like not having a grind all week just to hope Ill get picked up to play on the weekend . There plenty of grind heavy games out there which leaves the causal players out unable play due to armor or weapons stats needed . Im not sure of this but as far as I know GW is the only MMO that depends on you skill as a player over the sets you grinned for or real money spent on them.

I mean nothing in other games “forces” you to grind; this game has merely narrowed the gap between the blue/green geared from the orange geared. Actually, there is kind of a “forced” grind in that if you die, you really sort of pay the same repair bill whether and item is blue or orange… I realized this yesterday when my mesmer’s blue chest piece was 1s64c to repair and my engineer’s exotic chestpiece was the same cost. Hmmm, which piece do you think is giving me more “bang for my buck” in terms of what it’s offering vs. it’s upkeep?
