No healer or tank
While there aren’t any tanks or healers, you’re still expected to play smart. Going through a dungeon with 5 glass cannons is suicide. A warrior can offer support with buffs and banners, and can trait to heal allies with shouts, and a thief can throw around blindness to really help take the load off for a while. You have to play smart. You can’t, however, just label one guy a “tank” and expect to faceroll on your merry way, because it doesn’t work like that.
Edit: Also, how did you not know this already? GW2 breaking the holy trinity was a major talking point for ages
It’s okay to like different games. Really. It is !
I’m glad the “holy trinity” is gone. I read about GW2 before I bought it and knew this was going to be the case.
Why make a dude with a shield and heavy armour ? I have to wonder if this is just a troll thread. If you’ve played GW2, you know you get different skills with a shield that can be useful to you and your group – outside of a context of black and white “tanking”.
And heavy armour ? If you’re melee, stuff is going to hit you. You still have to dodge, but it makes it so you don’t get totally flattened.
GL in the other mmos but you can still play your character as a tanky type the shield will allow things like helpful boons etc to the group if they are in range and you don’t get squished as easy.
In GW2 what you are seeing right now is a lot of people doing glass cannon builds, eventually folks will say “ya know I get squished too easy” and start using either survivability builds or asking for one or two members in the group to have that kind of build.
As a person who loves to dps and gladly takes up the mantle of glass cannon, I’m super happy that I can group without waiting forever or rolling a tank or healer. That being said, there is a definite security in knowing that someone has your back. The everyone-can-do-everything isn’t for everyone. It’s ok to admit it isn’t for you. Have fun in whatever game you choose.
I donĀ“t even understand what your criticism implies? Are you disappointed there is no fixed role for you? Is that an important aspect for you? But the way you apply wow-terminology (it is dungeon, not raid or instance) seems to imply you are turned off because it is a different game than the one you are used to. I consider this strange, because when I buy a new game, I actually want it to be different from the ones I allready play. Luckily for you, experts estimate there are about 354789 clones of EQ, probably the predecessor of your beloved game mechanics, on the market. And only one GW2, which makes me rather happy with it. Not saying eq/wow-style games are a a bad thing, but I do not need version 354790 to play.
Obvious llort is obvious.
YA THIS GAME IS TOTES GAI Y IT HAS TO MAKE ERYBODY PORTANT THAT IS SOME SRS BS I MEAN Y U DO THAT?
Edit: Noticed after the fact that I should contribute.
If you’re a Shield Warrior, stand in front of your friends and hit 5. Good job, buddy, you just saved them a butt-ton of damage.
