No longer solo friendly?
Some are, some are not. Note the [Group Event] tag (or however it is actually worded).
Note that other foes, Veterans perhaps, you’ll find easier to kill than before.
Champions were never meant to be solo friendly. Even elites can be really tough to solo, depending on their attacks. Normal and veteran mobs are what you solo. Been the case since forever.
Most champions in the game are still solo friendly, especially if you understand the mechanics. With the krait hypnosses you describe, you have to interrupt them when they raise their arms in the air (their tell for when they’re summoning other krait). The spider, from what I recall, doesn’t cocoon you if you stay in melee.
It takes practice, proper gear, proper traits, and more practice.

So not true. Most champs in the game are soloable; not as quickly or as easily as vets, but it’s still doable.

He didn’t say they aren’t soloable he said they aren’t solo friendly. There’s a difference between the two. They are designed with the intention of them being killed in groups.
The toxic spider queen came with season 1. Her mechanics are designed with a group in mind since you need to work together to keep ppl out of the cocoons.
As said already, some are, some aren’t depending on personal skill. Group Events especially are designed to bring ppl together and many champs post-launch were added with new mechanics – something which was highly requested by the community.
Is the game still solo friendly? Yes absolutely, Zhaitan aside, all of the personal story and Season 2 are completable solo. That said, expect the content to be more challenging as you move through the living story. You will also find new zones like Silverwastes to cater for groups working together.

True enough.
You need to pick your battles friend
there are still plenty of Champs in the game that can be soloed.. even group event champs..
I love a good solo battle and im always trying to take on champs alone
sometimes multiple ones at the same time when and if I can find them
there are however a few exceptions which are either stupidly hard or near impossible to solo
you just need to pick your fights
Alright thanks for the responses everyone its good to know its still solo friendly, i’ll spend more time figuring out their mechanics in the future since that seems to be what my problem was with these recent ones.
Krait were buffed for the Tequatl revamp. Taking on a Witch solo is possible, but you’re going to have to watch those adds, because not only are they also buffed, they will also explode. RNG can also get you here, since the adds can be anything from regulars to elites.
The Toxic Spider Queen was part of the Toxic Alliance/Scarlet story. I think its cocoon is prioritized to people outside of melee range, so if you stick close, you should be able to handle it like any other spider by stepping outside of its slow attacks.
GW2 is the most solo friendly MMO I’ve seen. Even a lot of the group events that people think they need a large group for, can be done solo. That doesn’t mean that you can casually solo everything however. You’re going to have to put the effort in.
Also, with every major content update, GW2 slightly raises the difficulty.

Kessex Hills especially got a lot of the Toxic events added to it, which has raised the difficulty on that map somewhat. Things like the Kraits and Spider Queen etc are events from the Toxic stuff, and is generally harder than most other stuff.
Also, ranger is surprisingly good at handling most of the usual champions around in PvE, especially with some pet traits and something tanky like a bear. One of the easiest classes to kill champions with, so depending on what new class you picked, it can be a rude awakening.
Also, personal pet peve, its RANGER not ARCHER. *grumple*
