But I still feel that as long as Anet wanted to give out achi point badges,
they should’ve made them universally accepted by any vendor in the game.

In my opinion that would have been in accordance with the social theme of the game.

I was making fun of OP for complaining about getting stuff for AP. He should be happy we’re getting anything at all. As for your second point, how are a few badges hurting someone’s ability to play this game? Is managing items and inventory space efficiently a difficult concept to grasp?

Look at the bigger picture, instead of being so self-centric. Consider that Anet tries to cater to a very very very wide playerbase and without an actual char difference for pve and pvp, anet has no way of knowing if a particular player is more into pvp or pve or wvw or a mixture of the three. hence, it’ll be virtually impossible for them to tailor-fit every single reward to every single player. Not to mention, it will use up so much more valuable resources and time when it isn’t really a very big deal to begin with. Consider also that for the majority of the time since launch, anet has released quite a number of pve and wvw-centric updates, whereas pvp only really got its due attention these past few months. Lastly, consider how the pvp crowd will feel if every single achievement chest only rewards pve items. Imo, the whole package is balanced. You have gold, and karma/exp/gold+% which are mainly pve, as well as some BL items (repair canisters, orbs, boosters, etc), badges and prints for wvw crowd, and pvp reward chest for the pvp crowd. Consider that the pvp crowd considers all that gold, karma/exp/gold+%, and badges and prints useless.

Thank you for the suggestion! I don’t pvp or do wvw and I expect there are many more like me. I’ve been wondering what to do with these useless rewards (or so I thought), but now I do know!

Just convert into 3 or 4 WvW exo bracers (option to +1 mystic stone) and throw it into the toilet and sell the resulting non account bound exo for at least 1G 90s.

You all do realize for the pvp skins just hit “deposit collectible” and it all goes into your pvp locker never to be seen again and anything extra can just be dleted or if you have a pvp salvage kit, you can salvage it and store those mats in the pvp locker as well. the badges are extreme only because lots of us have 6000 or more AP points so its catching up… heck iw as able to get a nice set of gear for one character already, looking at my other 80s that need some better stuff as well.

Seriously? Somebody actually went to the trouble to type up a complaint like this?

It’s like you’ve missed something really major here. Take badges, go to WvW Armor/Weapon/Ascended vendor, buy exotic/ascended items you need. Leave WvW. Play PvE.

If you have full exotics/ascended, then maybe chuck some exotic weps in the forge and sell results for gold, spend gold on things you do need.

If you came into this thread complaining about the constant Spvp skins we’re getting blasted with everyday I’d almost understand, but tbh I just deposit them and forget about them as not doing Spvp currently.

As for people moaning about Gift of Battle being ‘obsolete’ because everyone has one, that’s still a long way off getting a legendary. You do realise you were never gonna be the only one with a legendary.. right? It only took me a few days originally to get my first gift of battle and had no issues having to do it again for my 2nd legendary, these chests simply saved me a couple days.

But if you look at it overall, it took longer than a couple of days to get those achievement points originally. It’s just as it’s been applied retroactively that’s all.

I’m actually happy with the way things are.

What you see as an attempt to get people into WvW I see as a friendly gesture to those who want a Legendary but don’t like WvW.

What you see as a gesture towards players that don’t want to WvW at all and still want their legendary (since the badges are kind of easier to get than the map completion), I see it as diversifying the AP rewards so that all parts of the game get something. WvW gets tokens and sPvP gets skins which are the only valuable items in sPvP anyway.

How can a reward not be considered valid if it can be converted into gold and/or gems ?

It’s how sPvP gear works – anything you get from a reward chest, whether you could use it on that character or not, is automatically soulbound to the character you opened it on. But! If you deposit said item or items into the locker, any of your characters can pull it out and now it will be soulbound to them.

It’s kind of a silly system really since you can (and will!) have duplicates (which is what salvage kits are for in most cases) but might actually want to use said duplicates on multiple characters, and therefore have to put one into the locker, switch characters, pull it out, switch back, put 2nd into locker, etc etc; making them automatically account-bound would fulfil the same “just one item of each type in the locker” constraint while also making moving things around between your various alts much simpler since then you could just put the duplicates into your bank (and actually be able to take them out on other characters, though you would still have to pop into the sPvP lobby to equip them). Here’s hoping they change it to that eventually, as it honestly makes way more sense than the soulbound thing.

Strange I did not interpret this as an attempt to get PvE’ers to PvP at all. In fact I saw it as the opposite.

I don’t PvP right now and when I saw all those badges I bough exotic weapons for my new level 80, saved me some gold, and I still have enough left over to get a gift if I ever need one.

No more trying to run the jumping puzzle during slow times just to get my badges.

Why not have a choice between, say Gems, Gold or Boosts of your choice?
Why does it have-to-be Badges of Honor which only apply to a specific aspect of the game?

Because you do get gems, gold and boosts, in addition to badges and pvp skins.
The only change i’d make is – give us Pvp salvage kits in large chests.

Why don’t you let people play how they want? That is exactly what offering badges OR dungeon tokens would do.

Getting anything for free is nice, but the system is clearly somewhat lopsided and offering the option to take dungeon tokens instead would have been a superior system in my opinion (clearly not in everyones although I am unsure why).

I think it’s great to get them, I simply think that it is somewhat skewed though and that an optional system would have been better.

So, you have no use for Ascended trinkets, exotic armor, exotic weapons — all of which can be used in PvE — but you would have use for some PvE currencies?

I’m not sure I understand this complaint. People are receiving a backlog of chests from 9-10 months of play. That’s why there are so many.

If you don’t have a use for so many badges of honor, delete them or convert them to exotics to throw in the Mystic Forge. Or buy a new character some exotic armor. Or buy ascended trinkets.

How are free exotic skins that you can throw into the MF not a valid reward? You do realize that if you throw the exotic weapons in the forge you have a chance to get a precursor, right? Or if you don’t like the skins you can obtain with badges, throw those in the forge for different skins that you can sell.

Or if you really can’t stand being rewarded with free stuff, delete it all and the problem will be solved. Just because you personally don’t have a use for so many badges doesn’t mean other people don’t.

The PvP skins can be deposited in your PvP locker. Once you deposit them, they’re no longer soulbound until you withdraw them again. You can then deposit them again if you need to move them to another character, they lose the binding, and once again become soulbound on acquire. That’s how sPvP gear works.

Yes, you can go to the WvW area and buy armor/weapons with your badges and use them in PvE. Free stuff!

Also, there is an Ascended Merchant in the WvW area, and you can substitute 250 badges for 10 laurels, so 250 badges ARE 10 laurels.

As others have said, you can buy blueprints and sell them on the TP for gold. So these badges are far from worthless. I for one, would love to have more! :-)

Free Badges don’t allow PvEers to completely bypass WvW; they still need to enter the Mists for World Completion. But honestly, with the pain that is the Gift of Fortune, I wouldn’t complain even if each and every one of us was mailed a free Gift of Mastery. The Gift of Fortune…ugh….

Because they want you to experience everything if you’re going to go for a Legendary. Yes, the free Badges of Honor means one can get a Gift of Battle without setting foot in WvW. But they still have to experience WvW for their Gift of Exploration. Ergo, they’re still experiencing everything. Allowing someone to skip Dungeons is allowing them to get a Legendary without experiencing everything.

Go to WvW and spend them with some Laurels for some ascended.

Go to WvW and buy some exotics. You can mystic toilet four into one that can be sold/salvaged (although I think selling siege may be more profitable at this point).
