I really dont understand why Anet stopped with new skins on TP and just invest on new outfits. Anet sells Transmutations, it drops like rain but they just create new outfits.

Sorry Anet but I really dont like to be on uniforms.

I assume you’re talking about armor vs outfits in the gemstore. The difference and reason is the cost and time to make these two items.

Outfits are cheap and fast to create. The profit margin is high for a 700 gem outfit.
Armor is one of the most expensive items they create and takes significantly longer. The profit margin is low for a 800 gem armor set.

High profit/fast turnover time vs low profit/slow turnover time. Any business is going to go to high profit/fast turnover. For this reason armor sets are expansion releases only.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

In addition, the community asked ANet to offer new armor skins for in-game currency rather than via gems, at least, as long as the time-to-release for new armor sets remains 9 months or so.

People didn’t like the idea of having to buy gems (or convert from gold); they said they preferred to ‘earn’ them directly.

Since that time, ANet has a released every new armor set in game and only outfits cost gems. Additionally, there’s been a single outfit made available via in-game currencies and a handful of individual armor pieces for gems.

What they said.

They used to release new gem store armour sets fairly regularly and a lot of people were unhappy with it so they brought in a new system where new armour sets are always in-game rewards and the gem store only gets outfits and occasional 1-off armour pieces. (All the armour sets in the store are from before then.)

They release new outfits more often than armour (which was also true when new armour went into the gem store) because they’re quicker and easier to create – for one thing they only need to release 1 outfit and every can wear it on all their characters – whereas they have to release 3 armour sets.

The fact that they have issues creating armor is their problem.
I will not buy outfits ever again.
I am content to never change my looks in fashion wars 2 if the status quo remains.

Now they’ve made individual pieces for the gem shop as well as in game. A couple full sets were added with the expansion. These are the armor sets and when they were released into the gem shop.

While I’m no fan of outfits, since I like to vary the pieces of a set for a different appearance, Anet could at least implement the option of hiding shoulders on the outfits. Some of the outfits have shoulder pads that look horrible and, as a result, make the outfit look horrible.

A option to hide shoulders would improve the appearance of many outfits that presently look yukky because of World of Warcraft looking shoulders.

And Anet, how about no more buttcapes? Those look ridiculous too.
