Joined Sanctum sprint today. Started a little late, so “because the late start … (whatever)” notice appeared. I did win the race. Got nothing. No final chest reward, no achievements progress.

To sum it all: I started late so have disadvantage, won, and been rewarded by no reward. Sorry Anet, but is it some kind of bad joke?

I don’t believe you are supposed to get any prizes for being first if you start late. You will get participation credit for the Daily if you wait out the timer (or the last person finishes).

Did you finish Sanctum Sprint? Just once? If you do, you’ve got chest in the end. It was empty for me, because late start. Understand now?

Thanks very much for nice advice. But maybe you didnt notice, when you enter Sanctum Sprint by talking to NPC you cannot choose map or whatever. The game just puts you in instance. So if you are put in instance where race already started, well, not much to do about starting on time, huh?

Well, you can leave and re-enter. I do exactly that for the opposite reason to you. I want to find an instance that is close to the end so I don’t have to spend too much time for the daily. The instances fill up pretty quickly. Job done.

Yeah, that’s why he’s not getting much sympathy ;p

so…. do it a second time. or exit and start again, and hope for a better map.

it’s vaguely annoying, but that’s about the sum and total of it.

Yes, I even understood the first time: if you start the race late, you aren’t eligible to “win” it.

People don’t like waiting around, so it’s set up to allow you to continue working on various achievements (collecting buffs, using troll skills), etc.
