Sitting around auto attacking these world events like Jormag in a massive lag fest caused by guesting and reward upgrades is not really that challenging or fun. I mean don’t get me wrong I love getting rares and what not, but its really becoming a mind numbing farm fest.

Honestly I wish these events could be instanced or guesting be removed from world events…I mean I don’t really know a lot of people who genuinely guest to play with friends anyhow(I could be wrong about the rest of you though).

Being able to 5 man jormag or do a guild mission for it sounds way fun then a 200 man lagfest right?

Heck I’d like to solo that thing I’f I could.

People wouldn’t be guesting as heavily if Anet didn’t impose a limitation that’s counter intuitive to it’s own design of being rewarded for your actions.

I was able to do a dragon event for the first time since their patch. The lag is horrible.

Its totally unacceptable, and they WILL destroy this game if they keep it like that. That was not fun at all.

It was not like this before the patch.

If your are fighting the same boss more then twice a day your exploiting the system. Anet has to limit the number of people at these event chests at one time.

Limiting loot acquisition or loot nerfing is a bad idea.

I’d rather they improve scaling like what they did to certain Cursed Shore events depending on number of players participating. The right reward for the right effort.

Zergs destroy the fun in these events. Make proper scaling difficulty of discourage these zerging farmers.

Rename thread to “No sense of challenge-World.”
We have this huge world yet it’s all a walk in the park, nothing poses a challenge whatsoever, you even solo events and group events.
You go out of Droks in GW1 and you find more challenge that what you can find in any zone of GW2.

Locking myself into instances for decently challenging content feels so Blizzard-like, what happened to the hard zones of Anet?
All the beauty of a large world just for leveling and forget.

They should hire Jay Wilson to ‘just double everything’. I’d love to see the entire zerg getting wiped.

Guest to a lower population server. I just did jormag and we got our buts kicked left and right, people falling off cliffs dieing, ressing then dieing, dieing while ressing, self ressing then ressing again. We did it!

This topic has been made 100 times but whatever.

1)There is no fail condition. Lets say no one showed up to do Jormag. You could literally let him sit there for 1 week/month/year/decade/century and he would still be there yelling and screaming and not doing anything…
2) They do not hit hard enough. Half the time at these events the boss barely even scratches my HP bar. Give them AoE that if people do not move out the way they take massive damage.

Taking 15 sec to do a dodge roll because of the massive lag isn’t any fun either ..I mean at least for me it’s not.

If the game had more variety of items people want in the open world (after level 80) then everyone would not not need to farm in the few locations offered.

Even so, getting a few rares and selling them is still boring. What am i going to buy? There only one item offered i cannot afford: the legendary. GW2 is a huge beautiful game that after level 80 offers one item to play the game for.

I use to do Jormag maybe once a day, even with the insanely crappy drops. Now I avoid it, even with the much improved drops. It’s just unplayable and not fun anymore.

A sense of challenge to me would be player controlled open world consensual pvp/guild vs guild. The strictly directed scenario based dungeons, WvW, Pvp do not make you feel challenged, but more like a mouse in a maze. The new events giving rewards are to make up for the open world mobs not dropping anything of value because of botting, and strict diminished returns.

Limiting loot acquisition or loot nerfing is a bad idea.

No it isn’t. Being able to do the events on your own server and receive the loot chest is fine.

There is no reason to allow guesting leechers to ruin players experiences on their home server.

I don’t know anyone who uses guesting anyway to play with friends. The only thing I hear it being used for is to farm other servers for ore, chests and berries.

Yeah is it just me, or do the dungeons seem to have the same level of difficulty that missions did towards the end of any gw1 campaign?

I don’t know the patterns well enough to be good at the gw2 dungeons yet, but aside from them and the jumping puzzles, this game is a breeeeeze, especially compared to the first game.

It’s ok though, i’m older and have less time to invest so that’s cool I suppose.

That, to me, is ArenaNet’s greatest failing. These are supposed to be the penultimate PvE events, and they wound up being the least interesting aspect of the game. Very early in the game’s development I started to fear these types of events were going to be woefully boring.

In my opinion, they’d be better served having NPC-crewed artillery do all of the damage against the world bosses while having the players defend the artillery from waves of summons (hordes of trash mobs with veterans and champions thrown in as the event scales upward based on player participation). As more players showed up, the waves would come from several directions to put pressure on players, forcing them to defend multiple fronts at once (and to break giant zergs into several smaller zergs).

I’m sure the lag would at times get pretty bad, but at least then we’d be engaging foes that actually move and attack frequently enough to pose a threat.

It’s simple.

People want stuff. They say they care about fun, but really, they just want stuff. When Plinx was the most profitable, everybody did Plinx. When Dungeon X was most profitable, everybody did Dungeon X. When Fractals were most profitable, everbody did Fractals.

Right now, World Bosses are most profitable. Thus, everyone does World Bosses. And thus, the bosses are overcrowded.

People are smart. The second someplace else becomes even slightly more profitable (gain per time input) that will be the new farmed area. That will be the overcrowded area.

I’d even go as far as to say Waypoints are too cheap. Any player with at least 1G can move just about anywhere on the map with no problems, multiple times. Thus, the entirety of the max level PvE players on a server are able to attend each World Boss (which only last a very short time, for the profit they’re worth). Furthermore, any guesters can attend each and every world boss. As long as it is profitable and easy to attend each and every world boss, it’ll lag.

This.

In practically every video game ever made, many will look for the path of least resistance. Trying to control this just makes them jump to the 2nd easiest spot.
